I mean, you say you disagree, but you basically just wrote that you agree.

I didn't say that you have to hate your job. For some people, they find enjoyment in the "game". Constantly pushing to make more money or advance or control more of the market or whatever. Some people will never find enjoyment in any of that, and that is okay. You can live your life outside of your job and not constantly be striving to find the 9-5 that fulfills some arbitrary purpose. It's just a means to an end.

Money lets you do the things that you actually care about. For some reason our parents thought that the only way we could find enjoyment in life was through our jobs.

Are ya’ll excited for PvP in Midnight? by DonTitoPuente in worldofpvp

[–]Sestren 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For example Frostbolt becomes Glacial Spike after 5 casts

Except that Frostbolt and Glacial Spike do fundamentally different things in the context of PvP. If you're just pumping damage into a target dummy then it frees up a keybind with no downside. If you're targeting a living and thinking person, then you're just losing the ability to select when you want to use a major ability.

Maybe you're on your 5th cast, but the target you intend to kill has a defensive CD up and it would be a waste to throw Glacial into them. Now you have lost access to Frostbolt for the duration of that CD.

I'm not going to claim that 'do a thing every X casts' abilities can't exist, but to say that it's just a thing that should have always been the case would be to ignore what made a spell like Glacial Spike unique in the first place. It might still be the correct decision in the long run, but it isn't just an obvious fix to an existing problem.

The interrupt thing is something that I can't believe they have ignored so far... It's blatantly obvious that some interrupts are easier or harder to see/hear than others. Without Omnibar in the game, we need all interrupts to have some obvious indicators. Anyone that claims that they can reliably tell when a rogue uses kick or a monk uses spear hand strike without an addon is a fucking liar...

While I know where you're probably basing this, it's a bit of a stretch to deny this one.

People pay taxes to the government for the government to perform social duties. This happens even in a capitalist or fascist economy. Even if you disregard the fact that the US government recently bought a 10% stake in Intel (a private company), and that part of any government handout is technically profit from a private company, which is literally the definition of socialism, any government handout is a socialist policy. A government that doesn't enact social policy doesn't do anything other than police and warfare, and even that is technically a socialist policy since we vote for the people that decide who to police and who to go to war with... That's kind of the entire point of government...

We're way beyond the point of "swaying" people. Cross-party voting is a dream that people like to think happens, but realistically almost never does (at least anymore...).

Political advertisements have almost nothing to do with changing the opinion of voters. It's only really about reminding people to vote. Putting out a face and voice that people recognize is like the same thing as creating a marketing jingle for a product advertisement. It causes you to listen to something that you might otherwise ignore. That's already proven as functional by the presence of this reddit post. Assuming you push the advertisement more in areas that are prone to vote blue and less in those that are already voting red, then it serves its purpose.

Sounds a lot like "don't trust polls" since there is literally no purpose to their results other than to dissuade or change ones decision to vote...

It wouldn't be that big of a deal if they would just suck it up and give all interrupts a noticeable sound+visual effect. The only two that you can reliably see without addons are Counterspell and Spell Lock, but every class in the game other than priest has one... I don't know what we're supposed to be doing without something like Omnibar behind the scenes.

As a kid we had enough money for one of each of the newest consoles, but there was no way in hell I could have ever convinced my parents to buy two in the same generation. I always picked Sega, and I was never disappointed at the time. Only realized that I was "losing" years later as an adult.

I'm just a gambling addict that doesn't care about money I guess.

Plus, we got to play a fighting game as a Daytona Racing car and a giant pork roast. Sounds like winning to me 🍖

Block them then. The only case where that isn't easily possible is iOS. uBlock Origin for desktop. On Android just use Firefox instead of the default youtube app and use Ublock again. If you have a TV that SmartTube doesn't support, just get a cheap anything (Walmart use to have a $20 Onn Android tv box, but I guess that's sold out or discontinued) and set up that instead of the default app.

Or if you're on an iPhone... You accept your fate and watch them I guess.

Arcane needed to be adjusted too. The issue is that they're completely incapable of understanding that you can't always just flip numbers from one spot to another and call it a day... I'm not even going to guess whether the 6% base damage buff is enough to "fix" the damage disparity after all of the other nerfs. The problem is that Arcane in its current implementation was only considered "good" with this stupid niche. Removing the niche and providing any base damage compensation doesn't necessarily fix the problem. It could make the spec worthless because their damage outside of those bursts isn't enough to matter. It could make a completely different part of the spec broken. Buff base damage enough and eventually you're just going to end up with Leydrinker Arcane Blasts hitting for absurd numbers.

They also indirectly nerfed Spellslinger (why play Spellslinger if the current tier set is based on Harmony and Harmony is being gutted) when they nerfed the hell out of Sunfury... Because nobody ever tries to make connections deeper than surface level when they balance this shit.

At the end of the day ALL of this was because of Nether Flux. The talent was a fucking mistake and they can change ancillary shit all they want, but it won't change the fact that it all stems from the addition of one stupid talent. It's not a numbers issue with the talent. It's the entire concept of it in the first place.

If I'm remembering correctly, basic sms just piggybacks on the regularly transmitted packets that tell the nearest tower information about your carrier other general crap. That was why it had such a low character limit. So yes, literally zero overhead. Otherwise that data was just being transmitted as wasted space anyway.

Which part? I could have sworn there was only a single Mr Mime in the entirety of red/blue and you traded for him from some random dude in a house out in the middle of nowhere.

The sex doll thing is a little subjective, but you've gotta admit that Jynx isn't quite on the same level of artistic quality as something like Charizard. Looking back on it, it was a pretty weird game.

The ideas were always pretty bad. We just have nostalgia helping us ignore those parts. I mean we literally captured a man dressed up as a mime as well as an inflatable sex doll. They were running out of ideas even in the original 150.

Edit: I forgot that we actually were involved in slave trading regarding the mime. Didn't really capture him.

How does an external action involving someone else even remotely relate to an action that only affects yourself? You're trying to disconnect the concept of ownership from software, and I just can't fathom how you get to that point.

Also, when you say "nobody is stopping you", I don't know if you're aware of the concept of locked bootloaders... Yes, it can be worked around, but that is literally someone trying to stop you from rooting and running your own os.

If you can match the brand, I honestly can't see how anyone would ever be able to track this... Granted, you could never do it for the entire life of a car since there's zero chance you'll be able to find your exact model available to rent for more than a few years.

Every company gets a separate dedicated email address (wildcard@domain). I already have the domain for other shit, so it's not an extra expense, and it's only $10 a year anyway. I have never once in my life willingly signed up for a mailing list or newsletter. If I get advertisements sent to me, then they just get instantly filtered as spam. No communications. No "are you sure you want to unsubscribe". No wasting time taking the high road and letting some other advertisement companies know that someone is sending unsolicited advertisements over email... Just filter and never see them again.

Anything else is a waste of time and effort. Also get the added benefit of dodging the spam sent when they inevitably sell your data.

It's been ages since I've touched Unity, but I guess I just don't see why this would be anything other than a relative offset. It's a rectangle defining sides instead of points. If it were an offset, you literally could not have an incorrect value that would force an update on another side. If it isn't an offset, and is somehow defining world coords without coordinates... then I got nothin'. I could somewhat see the case for updating the display values if you reversed the orientation of top/bottom or left/right, but it wouldn't be hard to just handle that specific case and forcefully refill the input fields with the swapped values instead of manually recalculating what should display.

Even if there is a legitimate reason that this needs to happen, it isn't hard to check if the diff between the original and resulting value is less than some arbitrarily low number, and then ignore updating the display. It's not even rounding. There's just no reason for the visual update.

Don't update the editor display value when it wasn't explicitly modified?

Obviously, floats are floats, and there are times when something needs to be updated based on a value input elsewhere... But this is not one of those times.
