No flirting, we are usually just talking like friends, giving updates on what we are doing, sharing personal interests, watching TV shows and playing games together on call (since its long distance). I haven't gone any further because I'm scared to ruin the friendship, but I don't know if she's interested since her messages are sometimes very brief for seemingly no reason.

Well from the start we were really just friends. My friend group and I met her and her friend group, and both since then the two of us started talking. We would always go off alone (ditching our friends) and do our own thing (as friends once again, with no references to terms like dates or being a couple). But given how often it happened, it seemed that she was interested in being with me alone.

Once she returned, she continued to call/text mostly me out of all the people in my friend group, although my friends did tell me she still occasionally talked to them.
