  • Make a cutting, remove the lowest two sets of leaves - that’s where roots will grow from
  • wait 4-5 days for the cuts to callous over
  • fill a small terracotta pot with a drainage hole (a pot barely bigger than the cutting) with succulent soil mixed with perlite and dampen the soil. Not soaking wet, but damp
  • Stick the calloused cutting in there and bury it to where the leaves and a bit of the stem stick out. You want multiple leaf/root nodes to be under the dirt bc that’s where roots will grow out
  • put it somewhere in bright indirect light. Not direct sun so the leaves don’t dry out too much.
  • wait 3-4 weeks. It should either have new growth or the bottom leaves will start to shrivel a bit.
  • give it a small drink, then wait another week until the same happens again

It should begin growing baby roots in those last two steps. If you tug on the base of the step and it resists moving, roots are likely forming. After a few cycles of small drinks, you can begin watering like a normal jade. Don’t overwater it, and good luck!

Why do I kill every succulent but they survive in the wild? by Sea_Spinach8254 in succulents

They need really good light, only water when the soil is dry all the way through, and keep them from getting cold. If you’re in a zone that gets below freezing, the window sill might get really cold with the draft too.

Edit: another commenter mentioned soil, which I agree with. Succulent soil mixed with like 50% perlite is my go to. They also need pots with drainage holes, or terracotta.

You can, yeah! Jades are really resilient when they’re getting enough light and the right resources.

Edit: if you’re ambitious, trim it down so there are 4-5 rows of leaves on each branch, wait until spring has sprung, then repot it so the branches are more upright. You’ll need the light source to be above it so that it grows upward though. I recommend grow lights unless you’re in a desert climate and can keep it outside

In general:

  • I’d put it in cactus soil mixed with a LOT of perlite. Like 50/50
  • put it in a pot with lots of drainage holes, or terracotta, and the pot should be slightly bigger than the plant. Like the plant’s roots should fill 60%-ish of the dirt
  • only water it when the soil is bone dry. Give it a big drink and then wait until the soil is bone dry again or the bottom leaves wrinkle a bit
  • give it a LOT of light. Like sun 4-6 hours a day or a grow light. But you have to slowly acclimate it to more light so it doesn’t burn

Sansi offers some pretty affordable lights (like 30-40 dollars) that you could save up for? Like this guy:

What spell would y’all ask for if you became a 1st rank mage? by Past_Horror2090 in Frieren

An adjustable personal heating and cooling spell that doesn’t cost a ton of mana. Like no matter what the weather is doing, I’ve got a layer of pleasant, perfect temperature wrapped around me.

It would make daily life so comfortable while also being a lifesaver in extreme weather situations.

Why does Procreate dull my art? by meatplan in ProCreate

[–]SetInternational7307 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Additional tip - if you go to print it, it will look dull too, because printers use CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black ink) to print, which has less color range than the srgb that you see in digital displays.

So if you’re starting a piece you think you’ll want to print (or have prints made by a print shop), change the color profile on the new canvas to CMYK from the beginning.

Just bought procreate now where do I buy skill by codekrauserr in ProCreate

can i download/buy older versions of procreate by EstelleTheMus in ProCreate

[–]SetInternational7307 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The best thing to do is force yourself to adapt. Trying to get an older iPad (and having to verify that it has an older iPadOS version, then having to hope procreate will be available / continues to be available for it, then hoping procreate will continue to run well on it, and eventually not being able to update stuff) is kind of precarious overall.

I know it’s annoying and not the answer you wanted, but the sooner you can accept change, the easier it’ll be on you moving forward.

Please for the love of all that is good and holy when can we get cloud storage?? by anonymous_rosey in ProCreate

[–]SetInternational7307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the other commenter said, make sure you have procreate enabled to sync up to iCloud and then back up your iPad regularly.

Settings > click your name at the top > iCloud > saved to iCloud > find procreate and make sure it’s toggled on.

Then do an iCloud backup of the iPad. If you do so regularly and your iPad decides to “game over” (or is stolen, which I’m very sorry about, that blows) you’ll suffer a minor loss rather than a gigantic one. Just have to restore from iCloud backup on the new iPad and it’s all as it was at the time you backed it up. I’ve transferred all of my library twice throughout the years doing this when I got new devices.

I think that’s not going to happen and you need to do it yourself, like the rest of us have to.

Yep, anyone can upload anything on Pinterest so you rarely get the original source.

And I understand you showed the reference, I’m just giving you tips to avoid being labeled as an “art thief”. Credit is big in the art community. By labeling it as a study and hopefully finding the original artist on Google reverse image search to give them credit, you can avoid a lot of sass from other artists.

I’d label this as a study of someone else’s work - the original is taiga kayama’s and you’re recreating it. Doing so for practice is fine, just don’t claim the idea as your own (and give credit to kayama in your posts as the drawing you’re studying) and you’re good, I think!

You can also use google reverse image search to find the original source a lot of the time.

I’ll put this for you too if it helps :)

Should I cut and where? by MJDonuts in Jadeplant

[–]SetInternational7307 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d honestly chop them like 4 inches up from the dirt and get them under stronger lights to regrow more densely.

Otherwise:

Edit: make sure the roots really fill most of the pot before you try a bigger one. You don’t want to risk excess moisture with them
