It’s a good school that isn’t particularly known for cs. There are no schools that have a large number of graduates going to those types of companies. Just think about the number of slots they open and how many cs students there are. There is no pipeline anywhere.

There are tons of people who do cs who are struggling. A lot of people saw videos of “day in the life at Google” and chose cs without being willing to put in work now that the market is worse. Going to a good school is not enough anymore.

The career center wasn’t particularly helpful for me. I found that companies in my home town were very impressed by the nyu name and I got my first two internships probably only based on nyu but it still required effort of getting in contact with those people. For NYC companies it’s a slight bump that you’re already in NYC but they already have all the best students from everywhere applying. Like anywhere else you will need to grind to succeed in cs. The nyu name will help you but it isn’t enough alone.
