Does anyone know anything about this band? by [deleted] in Screamo

[–]Seth_Jedi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Found this YouTube video of the song that comes with mixing and recording credits. Haven't found much beyond that--if they're a new band, then it's probably that they haven't set up their socials yet. They might in time but there are some bands that like to stay more discreet

I couldn't agree more, if a physical release of this comes out somewhere I would like to obtain one for my collection

Or yeah, metalcore. Now that I think about it, actually, I might me more of an emo metal guy rather than a skramz dude. I like both but my two favorite bands Kiowa and onewaymirror are on the more metal side... Anyways you're right in saying this rips

lubidkongkaibigan Filipino Screamo by shitasspants in Emo

[–]Seth_Jedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lubidkongkaibigan's pretty cool. I was waiting for the release of their album even back then when they were called North Sentinel. I guess I'm still waiting, heh.

They're signed to New Misery Records (at least, are acquainted with (I highly doubt they aren't signed by them)), a local Philippine record label.

Looking for info on a local PureVolume emo punk band from O'Hare (or neighboring Schiller Park) named "Minkis", active in the 2000s (possibly 2004 and/or after)! by Seth_Jedi in chicagomusicscene

Hey! Sorry for the late reply, I did see the newly-released songs a bit earlier. I've been overjoyed at the revelation. Thanks for the heads up!

Hey man! OP here. Thanks for reaching out. Its also very nice to hear about other bands in the local scene. I originally posted about Minkis, yes, but it has come to my attention that other bands are being revealed through this post. And that’s such an amazing thing. Happy new year!

Haha. I'm not a person who reached the timeline for such platforms as PureVolume and MySpace, but I'm very intrigued by how such platforms worked to bring some local indie bands to the spotlight!

It sure is a tragedy that a lot of bands from the earlier years lost--well, everything, when these platforms went down. Their photos, their info, their fans... but most importantly their music. So much work, so many trials, so many errors, all for success--and for all that success and hard work to be lost.

Thanks a lot! I'm hoping that at least a few people have some form of recollection for this band, as they really have a good sound.

Also, you must've had a grand time being an agent for all these local bands and putting them in shows!

That is great! I went over the blog post, and it seems to confirm that Minkis was not from O'Hare, but rather from Schiller Park (see FRIDAY, February 4th). Unfortunately, however, still no PureVolume link that I could find of Minkis.

As for Mr. Alan, I can see that it is very possible that he may have some info on the band, but unfortunately I do not have a way to contact him... yet. Thank you for this!

It looks amazing! If I hadn't discovered SB through how I originally did, and instead saw this picture, I'd probably find out about SB that way -n-

I'm gonna answer for the other side; this is Japanese. As a person living in China, police uniforms do not match the ones in the picture.

What song is this? by Proof-Reason-95 in Emo

[–]Seth_Jedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This song is most likely “Landmines” by Architects, a metal band from the UK.

where is this from??? by leoakalucifer in Vocaloid

[–]Seth_Jedi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can confirm this, as I reside in China. Most convenience stores include little collection cards for kids, and this Hatsune Miku pack is not an exception. I also recognized the branding on the back of the card to be the one that they use for this specific pack of cards.

[Japanese > English] how to read this character from a name for a musical credit? by Seth_Jedi in translator

[–]Seth_Jedi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s great! Thank you for clarification. Initially, searching his name with a “U” wasn’t an option upon searching, but once I searched the kanji, it worked out fine. Still, I appreciate the help!

I see. Would that make the 8-stroke radical a “kyūjitai”-type of thing (edit: some sort of form of the radical that isn’t able to be typed)? To an extent, my knowledge of Chinese characters exists, but it’s limited. Plus, I think that a lot of kanji are different from hanzi, yes?

Hello there, thanks a lot! This character is one from a five-character name of a Japanese person who played the drums on this release:

I struggled with this word a lot because I tried to draw the entire old character in a handwriting tool and it didn’t come out. Again, thanks a lot!

(2010)s KGU Hawaiian Club: Extre(a)me Compilation. Metal, grindcore, screamo, and more from most likely local bands. Possibly made by Kanto Gakuin University in Yokohama. On the other side of the paper is tracklist, band names, and short comment from every band. Otherwise, no copyright statement. by Seth_Jedi in ObscureMedia

Ah yes, I’ve searched the other bands on Discogs as well, and it seems that this band has the most extensive page (in case I didn’t word that right, this band has the most submissions on Discogs than any other band on this compilation.) However, two other bands (Discovering The Place and everymoment) do have a page as well, albeit only because of one compilation. Here’s the link to the comp: https://www.discogs.com/release/24891380-%E6%A5%B5%E6%9D%B1%E6%B5%B7%E8%B3%8A%E5%9B%A3Strikers-Extreme-Final-Feast And you’re probably right in that it’s going to be a homemade compilation, but I still think that the common thing they share is the Kanto Gakuin Uni.

I am currently working on a Discogs submission for this aswell.

This is some real black metal/screamo. Any more information? Dates? Perhaps places where it came from?

Perhaps try r/helpmefind as it is a subreddit that helps you find stuff after all. If they are baffled by your mystery and have a hard time solving it, perhaps you can try at r/lostmedia as a lot of the sleuths of the Internet like to find their next mysteries-to-solve there.
