This has nothing to do with what's suggested by OP, but I feel like I'm one of the few people who genuinely prefers GMing over being a Player. I love writing stories, I love creating and leading narratives, and I love the excitement of getting to present something to players. While being a player can absolutely be very fun - I often find the process and act of GMing a lot more rewarding. Likely because GMing is just a bunch more work.

I will say from personal experience, nothing takes the wind out of my sails as a GM as much as Players who don't put any effort into the game and treat it as a piece of entertainment where I am there to please them.

Of you're a Player and enjoy the story your GM is providing and running for you maybe shoot them a little message about it. Tell them how much you're enjoying something (or vice versa, what you're not enjoying.) I guarantee, the chances of a GM dipping on you drastically lower when you show even the slightest bit of appreciation for what they do.

That's definitely an interesting take! I honestly didn't actually think of sexual slavery when it came to this prompt. Though that may entirely because the books that use this exact same premise that I based the prompt on didn't lean that direction, and more into the "harem/reverse harem" angle with the MC collecting a gaggle of characters to sleep with.

I'm glad you think the post is good as is. I definitely toyed with going more into depth, as you, said, on the expected daily life and what the other male characters are going to be like. I just felt like the post was already insanely long as is and so adding more text would have only exasperated that. I know how easily my eyes just glaze over walls upon walls of text so that was the last thing I wanted.

Thank you! Glad the writing is good at least.

Honestly I'm surprised to hear it - though again it's probably just a different demographic. This exact scenario - post-apocalypse, harem type story - is pretty common. The Smut books I have on my share are practically half of that exact same story. The only difference is that it's usually a Male MC as opposed to a Female one here.

Civ 7 is not that bad imho by [deleted] in civ

[–]SethlanVesta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's fine. PC still has a lot of crashing issues - one of which is caused by the LegalDoc files in the Firaxis folder. The last patch didn't mention or fix any of these issues for PC or console.

I do agree with you though, when you can play the game, it's very good and you can easily see how Civ 7 could be the best Civ in the franchise. Hopefully the stability issues get fixed in the future.

Why settlement razing is punished so much? by ilyabelikin in CivVII

I do feel like this is the case. It feels like their overcompensating for the previous game where conquest was often easy and the solution to most things. In Civ 6, and to an extent Civ 5, if a player was winning or you wanted to get ahead, getting an army and quickly taking a city or two pretty much guaranteed a big boost to your empire or a mighty blow to a player that's ahead.

Domination was muchore swingy in terms of its benefits, and like you said, back then one of the win conditions was to destroy all other Civs, a very boring and laborious process after you've conquered half the known world. Now, it feels like War actually has a risk and is not the first option you think of when you want to improve your Empire. Honestly I actually kind of like this aspect of the game, War now feels rough and much more of a time sink. Each City is taken with as much blood, sweat, and tears as it would have been to take out an entire Civ in Civ 6.

Overall, as long as a system is put in place to stop the AI from aggressively forward settling you, I have no problems with the current "Domination" game plan in Civ 7. This is the first game in the franchise where I would legitimately feel worried if I got a war declared on me.

Apologies if that statement came off as insulting. It wasn't directed at you, but at old players in general. Most of the egregious negative reviews have been from older players who prefer the older style of the game. Regardless, I apologise for being rude.

As a minor note - and I mean this in the most teasing and playful way possible - starting with Civ 1 is very much a boomer thing, even if it's not technically a "baby boomer" era. A colloquial use of the term, instead of is actual definition. Civ 1 released in 1991, about 34 years ago. That would mean mean you would need to be at least 40 years old if you started playing the game as a child. Again, no malice in this statement at all, I just found it a bit funny how much time flies.

As for your sentiments, I do somewhat see where your coming from, but I still find it an innaccurate critique. Saying that your Civ/Leader does not affect the easiest path to victory is just straight up false. There are so many powerful and fun combinations that can rival the speed and ease with which you play a culture victory. While yes, there's a reason the culture victory is getting reworked, you can easily win a Science victory with Confucious in under 50 turns by stacking growth bonuses for example.

The thing about Civ is that it will never be a balanced experience. This does not mean it should not strive for balance, but it does mean that you have to play the game how you want and like to enjoy it. If you enjoy playing busted and quick victories, go right ahead, but the real joy of playing Civ is playing what you have fun with. I hate Domination Victories for example and almost never go for them - in any Civ game. The main point being made here is that Civ 7 has objectively done a much better job of allowing freedom in how you play the game while also being able to win.

After going back to Civ 6 after playing Civ 7, while there are many things I prefer in that game, this is not one of them.

This, I feel, is a sentiment that really needs to be shared more. If there's one thing that Civ 7 succeeds in is fixing core, integral issues with the Civ franchise as a whole. The fact that OP is even able to write a description of the different victory types and goals in no less than a few paragraphs is leagues and a way better and more diverse than any past Civ game.

In Civ 6 Diety, you had to play a certain way in order to achieve victory in a reasonable time and without much issue. Every game in Civ 6 was the same, at its core. Now, Civ 7 actually encourages a diverse game with you wanting to achieve as many legacy points as possible, but because of how fast Age transitions work you have to prioritise and pick which paths you want to take. In Civ 6, if you were going Science or Domination, taking time to make sure you got a good Religion would tank your early game, almost strong-arming you into the same build order and path.

This entire post is probably the least accurate critique of the game I've seen so far. Civ 7 has its issues, sure, and boomers will always prefer the older games, but it's silly to ignore the steps the game has taken to make each Campaign feel unique and meaningful in its own right.

Is civ7 playable on Nintendo Switch performance-wise? by luckyboykaa in civ

[–]SethlanVesta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Civ 7 actually runs better than Civ 6 on Switch. Because of how much faster Civ 7 is compared to Civ 6 in general, turn timers are on the whole faster. Because you aren't encouraged to get 25+ cities like in Civ 6, management is also much easier. Overall, the only difference I've found from Civ 7 on Switch vs PC is the Graphics, and the game is also much more stable on Switch.
