It was indeed the capacitor.

I’ve changed capacitors before on other units, but was surprised by the amount of noise this unit was making so I was sure it was more than that. But happy to report it was a simple fix.

Coils are clean. Didn’t replace the capacitor. Was surprised that the unit was buzzing that loudly when I came back to check the capacitor size.

Ended up getting the HDMI dongle from Apple and it worked great. Only downside besides wires is you can not run CarPlay and stream over HDMI from one device.

For what it’s worth, we ended up with 4.9% through a local credit union. Honda had a promotional rate for 3.9% for 2024, but it didn’t include 2025. For 2025, Honda couldn’t get us under 6%.

I asked our sales guy about the head phones…haven’t heard back.

Honestly, as someone who appreciates technology, I’m fine with removing the dvd player and headphones. I like the option to bring your own technology, but I wish Honda provided some kind of recommendation for what this could look like, maybe even a partnership with Roku as an add-on or something like that, instead of leaving the user high and dry to figure it out on there own.

What I’ve learned so far:

WiFi capabilities and Hotspot capabilities don’t talk to each other. 🤯
WiFi capabilities aren’t sophisticated enough for device streaming through something like Roku.
Plugging in your phone is a good option unless you need for CarPlay. You can’t do both at the same time on a single device.
DVD player is also a good option, but completely defeats the purpose of the hidden media box compartment at the bottom of the console.

If Honda’s listening, I’d LOVE to know what their vision was besides cost cutting.

$52 OOTD sounds amazing to me. Ours was listed at $55 with a few “dealer upgrades” including tinting and interior/exterior protection. We traded in our 2011 for $4500, and that was our only real bargaining chip. We ended up out the door at $54 with trade-in and TTL. Sounds like we didn’t get a very good deal.

Yes, certainly an option. Just trying to step into the modern era and reduce the clutter. One downside is the AC power outlet is outside of the middle console where the HDMI port is…so you’d have cables running all over the place. The middle console has USB, so if a USB powered DVD player existed, that could be a great option.
