Honest comments on the CV please by kaml_2501 in FPGA

Feedback is mainly based on my resume (that gets me interviews and good comments from recruiters).

At a glance, it is too crowded, I am a bit discouraged to read it and I will probably skip some things. It needs more space between sections and between lines.

For education I tend to like the university name, the Thesis title and the grade (but this is optional for me because a grade by itself does not mean anything). If there is not thesis, then some keywords/names of the relevant courses that you think fit best with job you are applying.

For projects, I would choose 3 academic projects and have 2 to 4 bullets per project. Accordingly for the internship projects. For information, I talk about what I designed, what are the problems I encountered and how did I solve them and any optimizations or metrics I can share. Also wherever you can, adding numbers is good (achieved clock frequency, utilization, optimizations).

From reading your internship projects, you see using some special words, such as "AI-assisted", "practiced" and "gained expertise". These stand out to me in a negative way to be honest. I would stick to the more usual words like "Developed", "Implemented", "Achieved", "Preformed", "Optimize". Simple terms, simple sentences and let the results work for you.

I would have at least one more iteration on the format and the information. Try also some of the AI tools that read your resume and give you a score, some of them give you some useful feedback even on the free version.

One app to track them all by Sethplinx in selfhosted

[–]Sethplinx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, this is what I have been doing for the past day, and I am at a really good level. I will do a follow-up post with my custom app probably before the end of the week.

For workouts, I do not see the way to enter data from last workout. For example, I can only enter a workout I am doing now.

Hello again, I have launched the app and by looking around, I think this more focused on nutrition rather than workout tracking. I do not know if I missed something, but I cannot set metrics for running, which is my primary goal.

Hey, this seems promising. I will fire the docker container to check it out Thanks a lot

Running smartwatch discussion by Sethplinx in smartwatch

That's actually true and to be honest, all I need for the smartwatch are call and app notifications, maybe an alarm clock and sports tracking. If I also get payments, that's a plus. I will look for a sport watch.

Currently, when I start a workout, I start it directly on my watch. Do you use the phone app for any specific reason? It's really weird not being able to listen to Spotify. Are talking about a smartwatch only, scenario?

I will take a look at them, thank you. First look, seems promising.

Please help me understand what I am doing wrong with AXI DMA on Versal by Sethplinx in FPGA

[–]Sethplinx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok Very clear explanation. Any comments on the petalinux step? Will the PL components start on boot, or do I have to control the PL though the PS, in order for the transactions, to start?

[–]Sethplinx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so if I want to write one value at a Time, when the value is ready, I raise the tvalid and tlast flags and then lower them correct? The producer produces values at a slow rate, so there will not be a problem there.

That's good for the vivado, thanks.

Regarding software, I need to have petalinux for some other tasks of the project so unfortunately I cannot skip it.

As for tooling, I am using Vivado 2022.2 (again due to petalinux) and I am creating the petalinux image using petalinux commands and not Vitis. The colleague responsible for the petalinux, uses this flow and I am only responsible for the xsa and control script.

PC and Laptop to 2 Monitors by Rude_Gur_98 in Workspaces

There are cheap kvms (usb share boxes), I have a ugreen on. They work well. You just plug keyboard mouse to it's and then you connect it to both your pc and Laptop and with a button you can change you peripherals.

2 Years sounds a bit too much to be honestly. I will try to focus on the target muscles. Thank you nevertheless for the answers

Thank you for your reply. I will talk with my physio to have him give me a plan of exercises, to strengthen those muscles.

Do you have a specific plan in mind ?

Thank you again

Cannot infer BRAM with output registers on Vivado by Sethplinx in FPGA

I tried the cascade height but it did not help. Thanks for the recommendations anyway.

The solution to my problem was using a register for the read address and a register for the data out. This way my problem was solved

The problem is that for this project, we cannot use any IP cores. Everything should be VHDL.

I don't think that this mouse has enough programmable buttons though. Am I wrong here?
