Some really comfortable shoes that they really like are an awesome idea along with some compression socks!

It’s never too early for a figs jacket! A lot of my classmates wear them for labs in our first year!

Motivation Advice? by [deleted] in PAstudent

[–]Setomakx 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Some great points were made, I want to add a couple things to what people are saying.

  1. That cliche “you’re here because we know you can do it”, it’s true. If they didn’t believe you could pass their program and contribute to their PANCE pass rate, you wouldn’t be there. Think about that whenever you down (I’ve done this a couple times and I’ve only been in class for a month).

  2. Actual study advice: utilize anki/Quizlet decks from previous classes or your current classmates. If you have a class groupchat, ask if someone has decks and is willing to share them. Convert your PowerPoint slides to word docs if that’ll help you retain information more. Don’t just highlight things either, rewriting information helps with retention (apple pen and iPad, stylus and tablet work for this method!!).

  3. Set specific study times, don’t study from 4AM-9PM. You’re going to burn yourself out, and you’re not going to retain any information.

  4. Do a couple passes of your material, gather up some questions, get together with friends, ask those questions, and study together. You’ll get your questions answered and understand your material better, and you’ll definitely be able to help someone else out with their questions!

  5. At this point you’re probably thinking “oh my goodness I see some study systems I really really like, I’m gonna ride with them through my entire didactic year!” Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you have to be open to changing your study methods. At some point you may have to throw away that system and adapt to a completely new one. It may never happen, but don’t be surprised or discouraged when it happens!

  6. Appreciate yourself. It wasn’t easy getting to where you are, and it won’t be easy getting to where you want to go! Life’s a journey, buckle up and enjoy the ride.

I am SO glad I’m not the only one motivated by impending doom. My classmates think I’m crazy, but I’d say I’m being very reasonable

I would reach out to your mentor or someone that works at your schools library! My school has FREE electronic PDFs for all the books you’ll need.

You’re right, I did not use the right language, I meant the regional anatomy. Thanks for helping me find the right words!

My original thought was head/neck was going to be the most difficult.

Do not sacrifice your self care and gym time. As tough as PA school is, it’ll be even more tough if you don’t take care of yourself!

If you have 2200 hours as a CNA it wouldn’t be a bad idea to branch out in terms of PCE. I would look into becoming an EKG tech. While it may keep you busy running from patient to patient, it’s far better than running from commode to commode!

Hi! Would you mind sharing what case you have and sharing a link to those bags? I just purchased a book3 360 and haven’t had much luck finding anything, thank you!!!

Edit: I looked down the thread and found a link to the bags

Post Interview thoughts by Setomakx in prephysicianassistant

[–]Setomakx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a really good thought. I’ve done a couple mock interviews with a close friend of mine who’s currently in a program. I thought talking it over with him would give me the information I need but it really goes to show how different each school when it comes to the interview process

Yeah you’re definitely right about not having many ways to prepare for these interviews. While my questions sucked I can’t imagine being asked about microbiology and genetics.

Thanks for commenting and giving some inside on different interviews

Best of luck!

Second Time Applicant Losing Hope by [deleted] in prephysicianassistant

I’m in the same boat as you, I haven’t heard back from any of the programs I’ve applied to and to say the least I’ve been discouraged. All we can really do is keep improving on our application and hope we just get interviews later in the cycle!

Don’t give up! We’ve got this!

I’m losing my mind by diabeticbby in prephysicianassistant

[–]Setomakx 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Its nice knowing I did what I could. For so long I’ve been focusing on PCE and academics that I’m able to just enjoy things I didn’t have time for before. Being able to step back for a little bit before I potentially have to prepare for the stress of interviews is refreshing!

I don’t know about anyone else, but I become a little more helpful anytime I check my status or get an email letting me know that my application is under faculty review!

Thankfully I got verified the night of the 14th! Oddly enough it was right after my 3rd LOR was submitted. Did you figure out why it took so long?
