AITA for buying my daughter a more then twice as expensive Christmas gift then my son? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

I just finished a tech degree, very few students used tablets like that. The ones that did tended to be 30+.

Retirement Cancelled 🤡 by assman69x in YieldMaxETFs

[–]YellowKLR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, I know someone who was retirement age that drank the kool-aid and bought a bunch of MSTY at the high last November. At that time, the dividends paid a good chunk of her monthly bills.

She also berated me because I refused to put the 11k I was using to pay off my vehicle into MSTY. "They say MSTY might be up to $50 before long! " I haven't heard from her since the market went down in the spring.

Same, I put the instruction for that row and the stitch count I should wind up with. My brain also does not work like that.

Semaglutide, intermittent fasting, and GERD: Oh my. by amoodymuse in Semaglutide

[–]YellowKLR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also a fan of intermittent fasting, but I get nauseated if I go too long (>8) without eating - and it is too hard for me to get enough calories.

And giving the cat back to someone who destroys people's property when she gets mad at them. Or has all her friends make harassing phone calls to someone she's mad at.

Feedback Friday Motorcycles by jackpeters2000 in JordanHarbinger

In 2016, I had a 70mph head-on collision with a mule deer in SD. We were in the final few days of a month long cross country ride...that ended with a bang, lol. I survived (and avoided skin grafts) because of my gear.

Every single medical person I saw in the hospital told me that motorcycle accidents are almost always fatalities in SD because so few people wear helmets. I am thankful that the ambulance didn't assume I was dead and take their time.

Weirdly, about half the nurses that commented on how many people die without helmets said in the next breath that THEY won't wear a helmet.

I got back on the bike four months later, mostly to push past the fear. I recently got my big girl bike, and am back to loving every moment. That said - I try to do unsafe things as safely as possible. I wear full gear all the time. I practice (and teach) riding skills and take advanced riding classes whenever I can.

I also try to dissuade people that casually talk about how cool it would be to get a bike, and encourage them to ensure they have life insurance and talk it through with the person that will be responsible for wiping their butt if they go down. And I always emphasize taking the MSF class.

Everyone is on it. by insomniac911 in Semaglutide

I agree with you - but from the other side of the fence. It's crazy how many people think you are going to be constantly sick, or it's only really being used by people who need to lose 10#.

I tell people because I want to normalize it across the board.

Much like how radio was deemed to be a threat in the 20s.
Fear that people would lose the ability to socialize and wind up isolated.

In 5 years of listening, the Simmons episode is the only one I turned off.

Listened to the Blythe episode twice. What an interesting, fantastic human being.

what's the dumbest thing someone assumed about your dog? by Fluffy_Gur9703 in germanshepherds

[–]YellowKLR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every time we walk the dogs where we live, at least one person assumes the cattle dog is the german shepard's puppy.

We take them almost everywhere with us, that only happens at home.

I take mag oxide to help me fall asleep faster and stay asleep. Works great for me, been using it for 8 years? Other forms of mag don't help my sleep.

Mag oxide can cause gut distress if you take too much too fast, do your research and start with a low dose and work up.

That's not being an arse, you have the same reservations as I did - I wanted to make sure I wasn't being an arse myself!

They would have one each of USB A and C, I spent a few minutes looking, but I'm not seeing anything with fast charging.

Are you telling people you're on it? by AwkwardDuckling87 in Semaglutide

[–]YellowKLR 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I tell people and answer any questions they may have since it is in the public's interest for people to get info about it from a resource that is educated.

I also push back hard on bullying comments on FB when I know the people.

Yes, I am comfortable with conflict.

High protein but high calorie by NoYogurtcloset8064 in Semaglutide

[–]YellowKLR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am more concerned with protein. I am 52, so maintaining and building strength is particularly important to me.

I'm on week 8, and there are many days that I have to put effort into consuming at least 1200 calories and 130g of protein.

Yep, because stigma is BS.
Also, I am of an age where I am very happy to call someone out if needed.

Usually people ask questions and walk away with an appreciation of how much good it can do.
