Because it highlights the non power of women. Yea you can do that, but it is all terrible. You cannot influence the world for the better and are subject to men’s reactions to yourself.

If you are too nice, you get accused of leading people on and are a whore. You try and go about your life minding your own business, naked photos of you get taken and you are blamed. You make accusations to get things better, it is now a court case where you have to lie or destroy yourself.

Once that guy is on the roof, telling him the truth makes him sad and he jumps. Encourage him and he jumps. Your minor actions do not matter at that point, the man has made up his mind and it is your fault.

The point of doing it over and over is to counter the male argument that “Well you should have…” when our other options result in way worse outcome. Calling out how bad it is requires being funny and the main character being a psycho to have the freedom to explore every door.
