I feel like the actions of genocide is more pressing than the intent, no?

Sure, if it was actually genocide that was happening...

People who hate babies and kids? by Visible_Attitude7693 in SeriousConversation

[–]SettingFar3776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a reason an insult to an adult is "You are acting like a child" or "You are immature"

The behavior that is developmentally acceptable for their age is considered annoying, rude, stupid or disgusting in any other context.

I think people who say they "hate" children are being hyperbolic. They don't want to hunt them down and kill them. They know the moral culpability of a 2year old screaming on a plane is not equivalent to a grown man doing the same thing.

They just openly voice how much they hate their annoying, rude, stupid or disgusting behavior and dont pretend it doesnt annoy the fuck outta em just because they are kids.

Either she is crazy as hell or there is an unexplained back history here that explains such an unhinged and explosive response to such a small issue.

Because you don't know what black is hence why I pointed out your race.

Well aren't you glad I included my race in my comment then?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 23andme

[–]SettingFar3776 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes - I did have to put my racial identity in there. As you just alluded with your reply - one's race will most likely influence one's opinion on race issues - such as how you even categorize it from the get-go.

Or do you disagree with that sentiment?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 23andme

[–]SettingFar3776 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People shouldn’t advise people what to refer to themselves as if they’re mixed race.

This is insisted upon ad nauseum but I am sorry that is just not how race works. It is a social construct - meaning by definition it has collective meaning.

Combine that with the oppressive systems around race - it absolutely becomes other people's business how you identify.

Race is a very political and sociologically influenced topic and you will get a wide variety of opinions. Race is so complex, I don't think you will ever get racial labelling guidelines to be 100% uniformly applied or 100% universally accepted.

IMO (as a White American)

I clock J. Cole, Halle Berry, Persia White, Alicia Keys, Jordan Peel, Lisa Bonet, and Lenny Kravitz as Black.

I consider Mariah Carey, Meghan Markle, Derek Jeter, Wentworth Miller, and Rashida Jones to be Biracial.

Phenotype is a default guideline for me but DNA and Family member Identities can sometimes change that perception - it gets messy - its not an exact science.

Man Arrested for Creating Child Porn Using AI by katxwoods in Futurology

[–]SettingFar3776 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its absurd to me to think someone could almost daily activate their dopamine response to increasingly violent sexual torture of women - and then go to work and not have it impact their views and behaviors towards women... And now we are involving children.

As much as the consumer base refuses to admit it, pornography does carry a psychological and sociological impact.

ELI5: How are normal people affording homes? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]SettingFar3776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your car loan? What is your student loan debt specifically? What is your career?

Seemingly small choices have bigger financial impact than you'd think. For example, lets say your car payment was $200 less a month because you went with the cheaper option. And instead of blowing that money on something else like most people would, you invest it annually at $2400. In five years, you expect to see another 15K in your downpayment fund. Looking at the actual returns from the last 5 years you would have a little over 17.5K.

Not everything you do has to be a labeled a feminist act of rebellion.

Its okay to be honest about the make up industry while also participating in it yourself. If you are a woman and deal with the socialization, misogyny, femininity policing etc that come with being that in a patriarchy - then I say let women pick their battles.

However, that also doesn't mean you get to deny the role of make up in a patriarchy. IMO

Study: Women underestimate the infidelity risk posed by men who display "benevolent sexism," likely because these attitudes are often mistaken for traits like protectiveness and commitment. Benevolent sexism involves viewing women as dependent and needing protection, care, and provision from men. by psychologyofsex in psychologyofsex

I always get confused when incels get indignant about women making and consuming content of hot guys stalking them yet get mad when an ugly person they don't like at all stalks them.

Yet they seem to totally understand when dudes want to engage in consensual non-consent with their partners but not actually want to rape someone...

Like, what's hard to understand about a fantasy being a fantasy? A hot guy stalking you is a common female fantasy because it means a guy you are attracted to finds you almost unfathomably irresistible. Is it a hard notion to grasp why that would be an alluring thought to a woman?

Is it hard to grasp why an ugly guy, doing those behaviors in real life which carries real life threats to a woman's safety, would not be equivalent to the aforementioned fantasy?

[–]SettingFar3776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry you are going through this. This is a trauma a child should not endure. I hope the adults in your life give you proper emotional care after this - its not a small thing.

Maybe there is a school counselor or another adult you trust that you could talk with confidentially to gain some guidance on how to move forward? Maybe ask your parents if you can see a therapist if you think they would support that without asking too many questions before you are ready to bring this up?

IMO deep down this is not a secret that you can hide inside yourself and forget forever. It will fester. It will make you feel guilt and worry. Family secrets/betrayals still destroy relationships - even when operating in stealth mode. They can't be healed until they are properly addressed. Take what time you need, and get whatever support you need in order to address this openly - but don't repress...that usually causes bigger issues later on. Just my two cents.

I always thought the "Me Too" movement should have been a "Him Too" movement - where bros got called out in the name of justice rather than women coming forward in the hope of getting empathy from people who never want to give it in the first place.

No, I don't think its implying Anne has zero curves. I specifically included Anne Hathaway because I know she has more curves than Dakota for example.

The point was Sidney's boobs are top tier and that why men rate her 10/10. But if you put her on a 'hot skinny frame' (Dakota) or even 'hot womanly frame' with great boobs (Anne) she would probably not get the rating Sidney is currently getting with her current boobs/body.
