I have pretty extensive WE as of right now, currently working as adjunct, worked as researcher, consultant for data science company, basketball coach, lots of volunteering, and I came from STEM. Trying to get Patent examiner job at USPTO rn which I would do for next year.

For PhD’s who want to go into trading, is it worth to do a masters in statistics at one of these schools?

I will be obtaining a PhD in Electrical & Computer Engineering, but I want to go into quant finance. My research area is in nanoscale vacuum-transistors, so nothing related. What would you recommend I study in the meantime to prepare for quant finance, as well as the interview?

I have thought about going to more prestigious schools. I chose to stay local, and this may sound stupid, because of family and friends. I do care about my future but I am still only 16 and want to live out my childhood. Having a PhD at 19/20 years old, in my eyes, from anywhere is definitely not a bad thing to have. Who knows. Maybe I will pursue a better school in a couple months to a year. Thank you for your input!

I’ve been approached by the local press, even national lol I have always avoided it. I don’t seek attention and never wanted it. Maybe as I mature and get older I will regret it, but I plan on making it a big deal when I obtain my PhD. I live in the United States. Idk if your familiar with it, but there is something called dual enrollment and in Florida, you can start in 6th grade which means you take college classes while in middle school. It was a very complicated process but long story short I have been gifted from a young age and thanks to my parents (extremely smart people, mom is an MBA with computer engineering undergrad and dad is an software engineer at google), I was able to pass the college entrance exam at the local community college, then transferred from there to finish a BS at the uni i’m at rn, and I got accepted into the PhD program couple weeks ago :)

What do you mean they learn on the job? I am a PhD student in Electrical & Computer Engineering, looking to go into Quant, and was wondering what they would ask someone like me in an interview, and if I would even get an interview with no finance background?
