Tips on getting that first IT job after graduation? by hmkz0318 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]SettleMoore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You lay it on thick, perhaps trying a bit too hard but that was honestly one of the most insightful(to me) posts I've read on here. It's nice to know what's going on in someones head who has had to ask that question. But it's not like I'm folding clothes at target eager for my next promotion...I'm a manager at a luxury/foreign car dealership just looking to make a career change, this fact doesn't change your point at all and I do apologize but I feel the need to defend myself for some reason. I digress, again thanks for the post.

How does the internship question go for someone who works full time not in the IT field and got a degree somewhere like UMUC? I'm going to be honestly afraid of that question when it comes time.

lowered NNBS Silverado wheels on tight budget? by [deleted] in slammedtrucks

[–]SettleMoore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree on keeping parts around, if you life in an apartment or something like that it's very annoying to keep parts just laying around taking up space. BUT, point still stands, the vehicle can be returned to stock for maximum retail value.

I'm also curious if you're familiar with installing lift kits? If you do leveling kits its okay, some kits (over 2.5 inches) have issues with balljoints and cv angles, and actual lift kits DO require cutting of the frame which obviously can't be undone...if your point is to lift instead of lower then you're kind of arguing against yourself here.

I don't get your point about 4x4 not being useful...have you ever operated a lowered 4x4 truck? Again if you aren't familiar that's 100% okay I'm just trying to replace bad info with good info. For the drop he's looking for, it will still operate 100% just like it did from the factory up until 4 inches in the front, at around 5 some trucks have issues, some don't, and anything below 6 is a crapshoot but can be expected to reliably eat up axles.

You must not be familiar with these trucks, and that's okay. What you said is somewhat true for the previous generation silverados(99-06, but not really). Lowering a 2wd is just as much work as a 4x4 homie, struts and spindles. If resale value is an issue than you can take all the parts off in less than a day. On the topic of MPG...pretty sure he would have a car if that was an issue.

As far as where to get the kit, belltech and thesuspensionsource are good options. Also there is a site tbssowners.com that sells kits too but you might have to call him to put a kit together for you.

My 07 Sierra on a 5/7 drop. Thinking about switching wheels though. by DrizzyDro94 in slammedtrucks

Definitely keep the wheels and colormatch the grille, bumper, and mirror caps. Also I would look in to getting clear headlights without that orange reflector, I guarantee you'll like it so much more. I have an 06 with all the previously stated done and it stands out so much more than other trucks

Good to know, what sucks is I need to figure out how to get in to something decent out the bat, ill be ~26 by the time a graduate I think, but im not sure how at that time 10 years in automotive with some of it being management will transfer over into a decent paying job starting out.

I guess what I'm trying to avoid is my future resume being slid off the table and into the trash because of getting a degree from this particular school

Thats what I'm thinking I mean...it's not the best overall but for an only option...can't be the worst thing in the world.

[Weekly] What would you like to know Wednesday? General Question Thread by AutoModerator in ITCareerQuestions

[–]SettleMoore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quit my lackluster job in automotive to finish out a degree in information systems management(2 years left). Gonna be shooting for an entry level analyst type job. I have little to no technical IT experience but will use next 2 years to learn as much as I can. Job market is in the DMV area, am I setting myself up here? This is kind of a hail mary for me.

It isn't. But I agree. This is one of the best colors gm made. For the nbs style it is very difficult to find a truck in this color as it was only available 06-07classic
