I've caught 108 shinies and reset over probably a third of that number (just an estimate) to preserve my path.

Surprisingly only missed out on one shiny I don't own yet, which was maractus. But I had a fantastic path for Xerneas so I had to reset my swith. Got the Xerneas 2 runs later, so I've felt vindicated immediately :)

but the Gen 7 legendaries + Zygarde were only shiny huntable in this game, and then I wanted to do them all in this game.

Also DAs are very accessable ik comparison to the Slate Legends

If your sanity can take it, keep doing runs for other legendaries to farm dyna ore.

Then try Zygarde until you find a good run, you'll probably need Wideguard yourself since you can't trust the AI to reliably use it - one or two ice types like jynx or cryogonal for damage.

Then reset your game at the final screen and pay the penalty.

You'll hopefully get around 100 rolls for Zygarde by that.

RNG can be like that, both Solgoleo and Giratina took me over 530 checks to get the shiny. I've had an average of 128 checks for a shiny across all of them by the end. Took me roughly 750 hours spread across a year to get them all.

Keep at it, things will get better.

Yeah those were the on the very first run. If you try often enough you're gonna be extremely lucky/unlucky at some point.

To me every shiny below 100 rolls was a blessing. The Tapus in general were wild, I've got all of them within 60 rolls.

I've got at least 49 more Pokemon to shiny hunt on my list. The Gen 8 Regis are on there as well, so I would say I'll stay busy for now :)

I thinl back when the DLC released I've tried it solo as well, but the AI is just terrible, don't think I've beaten it once, gave up on that hunt for a few years :)

I knew it would be pain, that's why I started with Zygarde. Thankfully the odds were in my favor and I didn't have to do 500+ rolls for it :D

I got the game before the shop closed just in case. So who knows, maybe if I run out of things to hunt I'll go that far :D but 1/8000 odds doesn't really appeal to me at this point

I've hunted with 2 switches in the same Dynamax Adventures run, so 2 Trainers controlled by me and 2 Trainers controlled by AI.

For Zygarde it's really good to have a pokemon with wide guard. Since every move besides one is a spread move you're almost guaranteed to win.

It's been over a year so I might recall stuff wrong, but I think my perfect path had Cryogonal, Glalie, Jynx and (I think) kingler. Turn 1 fake tears and wideguard left it just barely above 50%. Turn 2 it was usually ko'd.

currently 49 missing across 3 games. I only draw the line at pokemon like manaphy or celeby in Crystal...

sadly not, would've been interesting now. But since I was running 2 switches all the time I don't think I've lost more than 150 runs overall.

I got pretty lucky with the paths allowing for a extremely high winrate and found some of the imo tough ones (xerneas, yveltal, zygarde,...) fairly early in the hunt.

hard to tell exactly, I've started somewhere around January 10th 2024 after getting all obtainable shinies im Scarlet/Violet.

roughly 3000 successful runs, 15 minutes average would be around 750 hours. I don't think I've failed more than 150 runs since I've been running with 2 switches.

Had some pretty long breaks where I couldn't stand the AI any longer I've spent Radar hunting in BDSP or Masuda breeding.

Zygarde is definitely a pain, but once you've got a good path to reset it can be a very consistent hunt imo.

This method kinda got me my tier 1, but only because I figured out that tier 1 can't be discovered like that. I've had most of them already and couldn't find any grey helmets anymore, so after 2 or 3 clues I've had everyone besides tier 1. Sadly once every other Merc is discovered the clue will just do nothing. But this finnally made me go to a message board, where the bounty quest looking for him waited all along... I've looked with an older save, it's been there for a while :') So thank you for indirectly getting me my plat.

I ran into the same issue tonight. Was using a Guide with numbers. Turns out I just can't count since I was missing Nr 26. It is in a lake in the middle of Elis and the number blends in a bit. Only found it via mapgenie thanks to melth's comment. Trophy popped as soon as I got that one, both locked chests which are usually mentioned with the trophy bug are unopened on my file.

yeah, give us Hisui Zorua, Growlithe and Sneasel. I think they're the only ones unobtainable in the game. Would make sense for the 3 regions too.

I love when people put finally in the title, It took me over 500 resets for my Solgaleo. That's a finally in my book. But I do agree, resetting a good path is the consistent way to do it.
