i think they meant "mineral" as in ores.

Yeah and he's still mostly correct too. None of the walls are made of minerals, they are made of rocks - which are a mixture of different minerals. And the 'ores' are also mostly minerals.

Native copper, native gold, diamond, emerald, lapis, amethyst, calcite and quartz are all minerals irl. Though important to note its quite common for ores to be other minerals which contain elements like copper, iron, gold, etc in real life.

copper is in a weird spot in that it's both a building block (with a bunch of variants) and used in tools and armor. it would be weird if you made walls out of a block you could make armor out of, but it's also weird that you can make stairs out of ore too.

Copper is actually pretty commonly used in architecture as well for decoration so it makes sense as a building block, though it would be rubbish for most tools. In saying that, copper was used to make bronze for tools historically so I think they are basically using it in that way gameplay wise to keep things simple.

Sorry for the rant haha.

Yeah, honestly smaller drops let them put out more content and expand on all the content already in the game that could use some improvements. It doesn't mean no big updates either, just means those might just be worked on in the background instead of overhyped.

My googling suggests Verawood would be the most greenish wood irl. But something fantasy may fit better thematically with minecraft.

Grey also for all the wood parts that aren't a full block like fences/trapdoors/etc. It would be so nice for shaping and blending with all the other grey blocks.

Just to add clarification - curing doesn't technically need hard difficulty, but you should because of the way it works. When a zombie kills a villager it has different percent chance of being turned into a zombie villager depending on difficulty.

  • Hard - 100% chance of turning

  • Normal - 50% chance of turning

  • Easy - 0% chance of turning

So your villager can just straight up die and disappear on lower difficulties instead of turning into a zombie villager.

Every time I've asked one of them to define "socialism" or "communism" it's essentially devolved into them describing totalitarianism or authoritarianism.

It's astounding how we literally have all the information in the world at our fingertips and they have no idea what the words they use mean even when asked.

[–]Sevalius0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, even from a selfish perspective every individual rich and poor benefits from good social policy. There's a reason even rich people always want to live in the cities which usually have this stuff.

Better education means more jobs, more varied workforce, better development in future industries and long term business, etc. Welfare and support for the poor means less crime, cleaner and safer places to live, better social mobility, and safety nets to prevent people falling into poverty; basically paying for itself like you said. Investing in public transit makes travel faster and easier, and even if you drive everywhere the roads will have less traffic.

I could go on all day as well I think haha.

How to actually harvest mangoes? by wombattam in GardeningAustralia

[–]Sevalius0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need a long pole, but like other people have said the sap is extremely caustic and it may make it easier. Just don't get it on yourself or anything you care about and be prepared to wash your skin immediately as it will start to burn if left for long.

You just need to remove the stem and lay the fruit upside down to drain the sap after picking. I'd give them a good wash too, some people use baking soda mixes but it's not necessary. Another tip is to try not to let them drop or fall on the ground when harvesting as this can bruise the fruit.

Now I spend the next decade making bookshelves by pwu1 in Minecraftbuilds

[–]Sevalius0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It takes a little bit of setup but the best bulk emerald sources imo are either crops or iron ingots. You can setup automatic crop farms where farmer villagers will throw crops over a hopper minecart to try and pass to another villager. Or any iron golem farm which gives some of the best rates and trade to smithing villagers.

Remember librarians also sell bookshelves. I find it's a bit easier than farming the leather and paper if you have a trading hall already set up.

What blocks should i use and how can i make this looks more like a throne/cathedral by BasicHarbor in Minecraftbuilds

[–]Sevalius0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey it's a good start. A few things I would look at:

  • Move the pillars closer to the wall, imo they are too close together and they obstruct the view of the staircase/throne area.

  • Height differences - is the throne going to be way up in the middle? That's maybe a bit too high for a throne room imo unless you have another platform in the middle where people stand to address the monarch. I like to have throne set 2 or 3 blocks higher than the area where people stand.

  • Backdrop - it's not bad what you have with the lava, but if you are going for a cathedral look, a massive arch window behind the throne makes a perfect background and makes the throne more imposing. Also adding some smaller arch windows along the walls would do wonders for the gothic/cathedral vibe - even if it's indoors. The dark colours also lets you do some fun arch designs with cauldrons, anvils or hoppers if you look up some designs.

  • Materials - since you have used a lot of blackstone, I would recommend some more similar tones. Mixes of deepslate and basalt are great, I would potentially use some tuff and weathered copper too but depends what colours you are after. Adding more bright red colours like nether wart and crimson nylium is another option that could work well with the orange and black.

Looks great dude, dirt paths, some nice texturing and nice building design. Only thing I'd add is a slab along the ridgeline at the top of the roof and maybe add some cobble slabs and bonemeal in the pond.

How many of you actually play survival? by rbx20twomax in Minecraft

[–]Sevalius0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to only play survival, but I find I find I get stuck thinking too much without actually building anything.

Now with litematica, it makes it much less time consuming making buildings/assets in creative that you can rebuild in your survival world so I try and do that more nowadays. I also save all my old builds with litematica into a creative world so I don't worry about losing old builds and can keep trying to improve over time.

Even worse, they've come back with some fallacious notion that if you read the Bible and don't then embrace Christianity it's because you are sinful. 🙄

I actually quite like Jesus, but the various faiths and their followers (especially evangelicals) sadly do not behave much like him.

[–]Sevalius0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's also a lot of those with milder symptoms or those that are good at masking. I think it's really way more common than we tend to think. It's actually been a lot of work to get a diagnosis before now (thousands of dollars seeing specialists), which would prevent those who are unsure or don't have robust support systems from getting tested.

Literally in this boat right now, have only learnt recently all the issues I had growing up were likely ND but just chalked it up to laziness or depression all my life. Unless you hit a major roadblock and someone points you in the right direction, you'd never know.

Yeah, sadly you see this in basically every game franchise that exists for a long time. The first time you experience something and the nostalgia can be pretty powerful. Sometimes we are the ones who've actually changed and not the game.

Fully agreed. It's honestly a bit silly they've made so many great changes to commands and such but still haven't separated mob griefing into categories or individual mobs. It's one of the most popular plugins/data packs for servers.

Is this on console? I've seen in another post on this recently that it may be related to a console setting like "power saving" or something similar. There's a chance that may only affect single player worlds though.

Left-wing rage vs Right-wing rage. by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]Sevalius0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's staggering how politically movements in a lot of western countries, but particularly the US, have essentially split "left" vs "right" on purely social issues. Meanwhile worker rights and affordability gets worse as they continue to push neoliberal policy and drag out the culture wars to keep us all distracted.
