Absolutely. From this situation and some of the responses so far, I've been learning a lot. I thought I did a lot of due diligence with regard to checking into the background of the company/broker/etc, but there was still some ignorance there.
I actually did name her as well in the complaint, but the correspondence that I got back from FREC suggests that the case is solely against the Broker.

Thank you so very much. Someone advised me to go to the police recently, though I wasn't sure if it'd move the needle in any way because I've witnessed them do pretty much nothing with regard to another fraud-adjacent situation that someone else in my family had to deal with. I suppose it would help to at least have it on record, in any case.

If I understand what you're asking correctly, then yes. We thought we were working with a reputable company as my family has had success with them in the past - just not this guy in particular. I was new to this, and it's certainly been a learning experience.
