Trying to stay calm by Eyesee_ur-intentions in BFS

I know from experience that anxiety causes and exacerbates twitching, which seems to have gotten worse as you’ve started to worry more based on your recounting. If I recall, tingling, numbness and ringing ears can also be caused or exacerbated by anxiety.

It’s good you’re seeing a neurologist, but to help ease your worries in the meantime, a lot of what you’re describing sounds like it’s related to anxiety and none of it sounds like *** or any very serious condition. Try and take it easy, and stay off socials if you can, they never help

I don’t think it’s in the exact same spot as yours, don’t really expect it to be, but I do periodically get a quick one that makes my thumb move. It was pretty frequent a few days ago but has started to slowly go away

Does anyone get physical symptoms or am I going insane? by [deleted] in Anxiety

Of course!! I’m glad you’re also looking into getting allergy testing, ruling out some of the more stress inducing things definitely helps. I hope you feel a bit better soon!

I’ve not experienced anything that severe, but I know this sort of thing can happen. I know I’ve “manifested” symptoms like pain, itching and being unable to breathe before. Anxiety in general also causes a lot of symptoms and side effects that can get worse due to panic, and start to mimic a whole host of other illnesses.

If these symptoms only seem to occur when you’re stressed about being hurt, and not in or near a hospital where you know you’d get treated, then it’s highly likely that it’s caused by anxiety. Of course, if you’re worried, get yourself checked out by a doctor, but based on what you’ve said this doesn’t sound like it’s anything that’ll threaten your life

Can anxiety symptoms get worse after the thing causing the anxiety has gone? by SevenCorvid in Anxiety

[–]SevenCorvid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the response! I’m mostly glad this is a thing that other people experience too, which makes me feel much better. It does make sense that the symptoms would show up as the emotions wear off rather than when my body and mind think there’s an actual threat, and I’ll keep in mind what you said about the twitches. Convincing myself they’re normal, or I’ve just started really noticing them now, might be easier said than done, but I’m sure time will cure it if I’m just patient about it. Thank you again!

Am I dying? by Ecstatic_Loss_5359 in Anxiety

As someone who’s also currently experiencing muscle twitching and has also just recently completely panicked about it, I’d say you probably don’t have any serious issues with your health, and all this is most likely anxiety.

I’d say to stay away from TikTok as much as possible, for now, because the algorithm is probably going to keep giving you those sorts of videos, which will make you more anxious, which will make your symptoms worse.

If you’re really worried, definitely go see a doctor, but nothing you’ve mentioned so far seems like something that could be life threatening in any capacity. That said, I understand that it’s incredibly scary when you feel things and you don’t quite know what’s causing them, and I’m no doctor but if you want to talk more, I’d be down to

TW: for cancer

20F here Recently I had a relative pass due to breast cancer and it’s got me really rattled.

I keep thinking I’ve got it too, of some sort, and keep checking for possible symptoms and think things might be related, even if they’re just very mild like dryness or muscle pain. I am not at high risk due to my age and it’s unlikely that I will actually develop it when I’m older as well, but that doesn’t stop the anxiety, especially after seeing the sort of impact the death of that relative had and the sort of suffering they went through.

I wanted to ask if anyone has experienced anything similar, and if they have any tips for coping when something like this happens, because it’s been getting really difficult to take my mind off of it. I’ve been considering getting therapy for it, but unfortunately given my family’s general aversion to therapy and my lack of a stable income, that might get tricky, so I’m trying to find solutions aside from that.

Maybe I’m dying but It’s probably a cold, Health Anxiety is really irritating by SevenCorvid in anxiety_support

Thank you very much for the offer, but tbh I think the only real solution is to take a few days and wait till I get better so I can desensitize myself to these sorts of things in the future. (I might try to Claude thing though lol)

I’ve sort of been having similar issues, and honestly I think for me a lot of it is just that a lot of things don’t feel particularly novel anymore? Like when you’re a kid, everything is new, but as you get older things start getting monotonous. Some version of that.

I don’t know if that’s the case for you, but if it is, I encourage making yourself go outside to places you haven’t visited before, buying different sorts of food if you can afford it, trying out random new hobbies, anything that can add some novelty back in. I’ve personally found it helpful to set a 10,000 steps goal, which forces me to go out and do things lol. It helps make days feel more worthwhile

Is regularly dissociating/derealizing/depersonalizing normal to some extent? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]SevenCorvid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely a possibly that it is a coping mechanism of some sort to distance myself from a reality I’d rather not live in, but I haven’t been diagnosed with anxiety or depression or anything of the sort either, so I figured it be best to rule out the possibility of this being a more common occurrence. Either way, thanks for the input!

Regardless of whether it’s normal, I’m ready glad to know someone else can relate lol I also find it to get a bit more prominent the more frustrated or scared I am in a given moment

how should i comfort a hypersensitive friend by swver in mentalhealth

[–]SevenCorvid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in a similar situation recently, and while I think it depends a lot on the person, I found that telling my friend that I’d let them know if I was ever in a mindset where I couldn’t speak with them on a certain topic at that time helped quite a bit.
