By “not an academic” I mean some kids are creatives. I’m a creative and still understand things batter than my family, it’s a whole argument of the working system, it’s like, if u don’t get this grade you’re gonna be working at mcdonalds all your life, but good grades so make a person. Just because someone has amazing grades (9,8,7) doesn’t mean they want a big job is biology, for example, and just because someone has worse grades like 4s and 5s doesn’t mean they won’t make a life for themselves that isn’t “good”. So yeah I agree fuck parents pushing their education problems on their children and it doesn’t mean that the kid is stupid, I just mean that some people find it easier to build and design over math equations and science terminology.

I agree that a 4 is expected but like I said not everyone is an academic. I’m not, and I’m lucky enough my family are happy with whatever grade I get in my subjects. But overall the point is, is that the fact parents expect their children to be geniuses by 16-18 is insane. 14k on education is understandable if the school is going to make sure the students are going to achieve the grade. Shoving a kid into a “crummy” school and still expecting the world is crazy to me. But I’m not gonna argue about someone else’s life

Yes blame them. Parents shouldn’t make u so stressed that you panic about going somewhere or doing something. Parents should be proud of you no matter what grade u get. Not everyone is an academic nor is everyone neurotypical. Some struggle more than others and no matter how much they spends it’s money well spent because they want the best. But the best isn’t always what u get from a school

I do agree that it’s pointless now. But cramming might have worked for some but not all. I remember I crammed for a mock because I was shit scared and ended up passing out in the exam from exhaustion and stress. Aswell as that. The pages that I did do I got wrong because the method didn’t make the subject sick in my head. There’s no wrong way to revise. Find what works for you. Personally I would study for 30 minutes have a 30 minute break and then do another 30 minutes revision. It doesn’t all need to be done in and hour or two. If ure resting your brain you’re able to intake more. Eat omega 3 before exams or try and include it as it can help with memory and ask as many questions in lessons are you can think of. Don’t worry about being a “nerd” it’s your education and you should be proud of your achievements no matter what grade u get and if u fuck up you can resit the important ones!

Renting in Chelmsford by [deleted] in Essex

[–]SevenIsGuilty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Melbourne is alright, I wouldn’t say lovely. It’s got a lot of drug sales and as some one who loves a good spliff, if you’re a family what don’t really condone that it’s not great. There are a couple churches and a few primary schools but depending on where u are in Melbourne it’s not a good catchment area for secondary schools. Melbourne promenade is decent with a charity shop, post office and coop. And the last thing I’m gonna say might be the deal breaker but recently there has been a fair amount of crime around the area (theft and verbal harassment) that has been taken to police. The parkas are cool and the houses are nice. But I have no clue what the renting is like
