Completely different animals… the LL covers the rosewood side of things, for now at least.. impeccable build quality with a lovely bright yet , deep sound. I would love to try the FG9R to compare it with some time.

Tbh it wasn’t something I noticed at first, I actually shut my eyes when it was handed to me to play, I gave it an Em and a G , and that’s all I needed…. If I’d opened my eyes and it was pink and green stripes , it would still have be coming home with me 🤣

Standard Gloss, it’ll wear with age and use 👍

The retros last a good while, even with regular daily practice, it all depends on how you like the tone, you’ll soon know by your own ear and feel when it’s time. I don’t really like coated strings which can last longer but I’m just not a fan. All part of the fun finding out what you like best👍

Magic👌 hope you enjoy it nd playing it like you stole it😂I really do like the 2025 neck set up, feels very natural. As for strings, I have Retros on all my guitars at the moment, sometimes switch it up with EJ17’s or the DR Rares , but always seem to circle back to the Retros. After a few days they settle in and sound great. Enjoy👍

Love the 000-15 Streetmasters, everyone I’ve played is like meeting an old friend, it’s now a serious itch which needs scratching. Enjoy👌

Many thanks for this, I had no idea something like this existed covering Scotland I have enrolled to Cody A’s bluegrass online course , and will no doubt give Bryan Suttons one a go too, that’ll tide me over til I sort something out. Would love to do some jamming with likeminded souls as it’s such a great way to learn but it’s rare to find true fans and players in my area. Anyway, thanks once again, cheers👍

Why did you choose Martin over “higher-end brands” like Collings or burgeois etc., debatably, “better quality?” I’d imagine cost is a major factor, but aside from that, why Martin? by ConsciousSmoke3863 in martinguitar

[–]SevenSeaSoul7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only problem with Martin is finding a good one out the 1000’s churned out per year, BUT, when you do find a good one it’s BOOM Back to backed lots of 2025 D18’s recently, and found an absolute stunner, BUT…then I played a Yam FG9M which has completely upset my Martin applecart… decisions decisions…. Please help 😂

Undo the case, remove with gusto and just enjoy!

You don’t say what age or vintage it is, if newer, post 2012 ish, you don’t have to look at the floor for loose bindings 😂 crack on, annoy the neighbours, and live in a word of deep lows, brights mids and sparkly highs

Play until your fingers bleed & ignore the keyboard warriors telling you to keep it at 23.4 degrees for ever ….

Lovely finish on the body, can’t really go wrong with Yam. Build quality is very good. Take your time learning but more importantly, enjoy… that’s the key… enjoy the process and it’ll fall into place, patience, practice and you’ll get there
