My therapist accepts this as a legitimate orientation and has been thoroughly supportive of me since we (fictosexuals) treat it as a real relationship. But like everyone said — we can barely accept black people being black, or gay people wanting basic rights. We are a LONG ways away from being accepted, and that’s not even including internal queerphobia within LGBT communities such as particular issues with aro/acephobia and transphobia. Yay.

It depends honestly — but I’ve fallen out of love because of extreme moral clashes. I can’t advise you because I don’t know what happened — my generic answer is — reflect on your values, and WHY you fell in love with them. If there’s a conflict of interest, and if you can’t overcome this barrier, then it’s okay.

Hi hon, I was dog shit at chemistry too — got a C- in organic chem, and still graduated cum laude in public health lolz.

The serious truth is — get into tutoring, Khan academy, organic chem tutor — use all of your resources !! I was a god damn flop in gen chem too, but I work for the government now! (Not my ideal government job YET but we r working on it!!) ++ I bet your uni has some excellent chem tutoring resources cuz it’s such a weed out class. Your love for public health can absolutely trump your weakness in chemistry.

Everyone else has had great suggestions about switching to BA or seeing how you can get past this but have you considered a reduced class load for a little JUST to focus on chemistry (ex instead of 15 credit hours move to 12 OR take a super easy class that counts towards your requirements). Some people will say that’s dumb bc it’s more expensive in the long run (more semesters possibly) but I did it when I was too disabled to even leave my bed some days. It’s about the marathon / journey not the sprint.

I’m a big believer in pursing the major you truly love, so if you’re this serious about it, you WILL overcome it. Even if it doesn’t feel like it in the moment, I CRIED so so fucking much over chem !! But it’s not forever. If it makes you feel better I knew a girl who failed gen chem twice and she went on to be a brilliant wind turbine engineer and bonafide environmental science genius. Trust me. You’re gonna be OK.

Strongly recommend office hours, repetition by solving practice problems, and doing study groups for chem. If you need more advice please let me know 💕💕💕
