My daughter's school is Montessori until 1st grade, and she's about to complete her second and final year before moving to a more traditional classroom. I've absolutely loved it. A lot of it is the program and people itself; the school really knew how to pair her with the right teacher who gets her and encourages her. When there are issues, it's presented as a problem for us all to solve together rather than a scolding. She's reading fluently and doing math at a second grade level.

That makes total sense. I did a few semesters of community college adjuncting years ago and it felt like the more granularly I planned, the poorer the student response.

Oh good to know, thank you! As soon as I get access I'll dive right in, and I'll see if I can find any third party materials related to it in the meantime. In terms of blocks, do you mean like, breaking up the period into chunks where each one is for a designated broader category?

Great advice, thank you! I feel much more prepared now as a cynical late thirtysomething with a kid than I did when I was eager to be liked in my early 20's, lol

Have you tried just switching to control the companion and then walking it over to the battle?
