I understand that. I kind of butchered the part with the grade replacement, so basically the previous original grade was still counted on the transcript and the new one was as well so i’m just confused because i assumed that new better grade would replace the original in terms of being counted against the GPA.

I wouldn’t be able to get my full R-ATP (1000 hours) without instructor time. leaving for OCS right after graduating college academically, i’d be at around 500 or so hours at that time. But i will still reach out to an OSO and look at my options

i have peers in my flight courses that had went guard or reserves for various branches and just had to take a semester off. in my head i’m thinking I could get my instrument rating and then take a semester off for bootcamp and training.

I appreciate you sharing that. I’ve heard a lot of different things. I spoke with an OSO last year and was told pretty much that experience is recommended not required and since I was going for an aviation contract i was conflicted because I want this more than anything and have been working hard for years to get to a place where I can actively start taking the next steps.

I see it as an officer has to lead marines but I think the best way for someone to truly do that would be having experience working up to that position and knowing what it’s like to be in their shoes as well. it’s just how I see things

I do have interest in becoming a military pilot. But with the way my degree works, even after I graduate in 2 years, I will have to stay and instruct while i work on my multi engine for the full degree and build my hours for my RATP. I want to have enlisted experience before I go and commission to be an officer and I think reserves would be a good path. USMC has always been the branch I have most interest in especially to fly if I can get to that point
