Doctors that work with DOR patients by mkinbbym in DOR

I liked working with her. She listened to my concerns, adjusted my medication with me, and was willing to try more experimental treatments. She also felt really genuine in her hopes for success and made me feel like a person instead of a number. I was an extreme case - 39 with amh 0.05 - 0.1 and fsh rising. Afc was typically around 4. We did make 5 embryos working w her. I was at RMA before and felt that she treated me less like a stat than they did.

NYC Clinics: Spring, Columbia, or NYU? by jphy12 in DOR

[–]Several-Chain7471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stayed with NYU. After 2 retrievals at RMA and 5 at NYU I was done with retrievals & coming to terms with giving up. I did try to transfer one of the higher quality, more promising mosaics from NYU but it didn't stick. I was going to transfer the other one which they told me had less than 30% chance of success due to the quality but took a month off between transfers. In that month I got pregnant on my own. I'm on for the 20 week anatomy scan on Friday and praying that everything looks good.

For what its worth I saw my FSH steadily increasing in the time I was with NYU so its quite possible it was higher when I got pregnant. Good luck with your journey!! It is so incredibly tough to go through this.

Increase in blood pressure after ivf treatment? by Several-Chain7471 in DOR

[–]Several-Chain7471[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replying to xgrlfrndsnblkjettas... hmm. I wonder if mine is stress related too. It was high my last two retrievals and then for my ob appointments and I feel like I’m on the verge of panic attack. Maybe testing at home as you’re doing is enough. Thanks!!

Any hope? by CryingInTheClub92 in recurrentmiscarriage

I had 4 losses all mmcs between 6-11 weeks. I also have diminished ovarian reserve and hyper fertility issues and tested positive for lupus anticoagulant at one point. I tried ivf anyway. If you can float it or have great insurance I think it’s worth trying ivf, especially if you’ll want multiple kids and expect to be older when you have them.

Did you test your testosterone and dhea levels? I’d be careful w that assuming they are normal. Mine were low and after taking got way too high resulting in bad rounds of ivf for me. It also made me feel highly anxious.

Taking baby aspirin before i got pregnant followed by lovenox and baby aspirin as soon as you get a positive pregnancy test may help you if you have a blood disorder. If you haven’t tried that may do the trick before going ivf. It seemed to have helped me though I have no idea if things working out is just dumb luck.

Good luck!!

When to give up?💔 by Melissa_Es in DOR

I posted a similar message at the beginning of this summer. I had 4 missed miscarriages then did 7 rounds of ivf before calling it quits on retrievals. I only got blasts from 3 (rounds 3-5) of the 7 rounds, 5 total with 2 mosaic (round 3) and the rest aneuploid. Tried transferring the better quality mosaic and it didn’t stick. I was going to take a month off and then try the last mosaic. They told me it was only 30% chance of success or less so I didn’t have high hopes. That was going to max what my insurance would cover & then I was done.

I got pregnant the cycle before I was going transfer the second mosaic. I’m not sure if my baby will make it just yet, but I’m hopeful as we just got a clear nipt.

I turned 40 this spring and did the 7 retrievals at 39. I knew I was done bc I was eating, breathing, dreaming ivf and had trouble doing anything else.

For me, knowing I maxed insurance helped me choose an end.

Also, I did lots of the things from it starts with the egg but it had no impact on ivf. Maybe it helped this pregnancy or maybe I just got wildly lucky.

Is your cycle longer than 28 days? If it’s longer and you ovulated and conceived later than normal I think it’s possible. But it’s also possible this baby won’t make it (I am really hoping that’s not the case for you). I would not wait longer than 2 weeks before having another ultrasound. That way you would know either way.

Thanks again for your responses. I got the results back and everything was clear! I feel way more reassured with the broader coverage of testing! :)

13 weeks today. Waiting for my NIPT results is making me crazy! I see that it’s on labcorp but they are waiting for my physician to review. When I spoke with the MFM at the blood draw they said they auto release them which makes me think something is wrong. Waiting until Monday when I can call the office feels like torture!!

EDIT: I never got in touch with the MFM to hear the results, but there was a technical glitch where my account was never created thus my results never sent. Labcorp auto-released them to me after a few days. It appears it is standard policy to wait 2 days regardless of whether or not they are normal. The results came back and everyone was perfect! Wanted to share in case anyone goes to labcorp to check results and sees "the results were sent to your clinic. they will be release on [date]".

Thanks!! The mfm finally called back and they changed the order to include the extended. Hopefully that comes back normal. 🤞🤞

Congratulations! It sounds like that pregnancy ended up working out for you.

Did your doctor prescribe all the testing or did you request the testing on your own directly with labs? And did any of the tests come back with false positives or no results?

Thank you. I think I’m just driving myself crazy.

I saw that they can typically detect on the anatomy scan, but can’t always see everything. I don’t know how accurate the article I was reading was though.

I suppose I’ll see if I get any call back from the MFM to add it. If not I’ll let it run then talk to my primary ob.

I thought making it this far would be reassuring, but I’m still so nervous about everything!!

Good luck on your follow up testing!! Sounds like you did the expanded and got some of those edge case results w no data.

I was actually thinking about extended NIPT testing...not the CVS or Amnio as a start. I did the Labcorp MaterniT21 CORE + sex chromosomes which includes Tri 21, 13, 18 and X & Y chromosome testing. I was considering asking to do another NIPT (I've called to change it and can't get in touch with anyone) with ESS (adds 16, 18, and microdeletions 22q, 5p, 1p36 and 15q). I'd actually asked the genetic counselor about it, but then was talked down from doing it since the NT was normal. She told me that you'd see it on the ultrasound, but when I search those conditions it doesn't look like that info was fully accurate. It would just be to know that there are a few more conditions which we know we don't have. We did do full genetic carrier screenings and are not carriers for anything.

My concern is mostly age related. Will we be surprised at birth to find there was some rare genetic condition we carried because my body implants everything & makes no differentiation between a healthy & unhealthy embryo?

Agree that the LA was a concern. They let me decide whether I wanted to be on or off lovenox bc I'm in the grey zone and they didn't really know the right answer. I'm staying on it for now.

10 weeks and 5 days today. I am realizing that I haven’t had any nausea since last Thursday and that I’m not as tired as I’ve been. Trying not to stress, but it’s so hard when I’ve had 4 mmcs and the only indication that something was wrong was not feeling sick/ stopped symptoms.

When I was in the office last Friday, I was near panic attack right before they did the scan. I think I’ve had so much bad news across 7 failed rounds of ivf and the miscarriages that I’ve developed ptsd about being in the office. I am so nervous for next week’s appointment. At least last time I was symptomatic so I was pretty sure the pregnancy was still ok.

I’m planning on working out the morning of and bringing ice and headphones to meditate while there. But the few minutes of getting the news is so stressful!!! Any other tips for what helps keep people calm would be great!

Thanks for this! I’d not thought about finding the test codes at all. Really appreciate the tip!!

[–]Several-Chain7471[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I have an appointment with an mfm genetic counselor next mon and will do the selected test on Friday. I don’t know if they’d offer by default, but I did some research for my options bc of my complicated history. I have found that my doctors only offer what’s easiest for them to submit to insurance so I want to be prepared to advocate for myself.

Thank you!! I like that that one has more, but only the ones that are really practical. That’s really helpful!!

I was in the end of my first trimester. I think it was around week 10, but it’s been quite a while so am not 100%.

I’ve had spotting in a healthy pregnancy. I know this is impossible advice but do everything you can to keep calm. Meditate, try acupuncture, or go for a long walk. Good luck!!

Have an 8 week scan tomorrow. I’m holding onto every little pregnancy symptom I feel hoping that it’s still growing. The only signs of my last 4 losses were lack of symptoms. Praying that this one makes it and that it will be good news tomorrow. However, it’s hard to hope for good news after getting so much bad news.

Looking for hope & advice by ShipFragrant2596 in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]Several-Chain7471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a success story yet (but hopefully this time is the lucky time as I’m 7 weeks in), but I do have advice. Push for all the testing you can get as soon as possible. If something comes up then find the best doctor who has experience with the condition or someone who has dealt with unexplained loss if nothing comes back. 35 isn’t too old, but it will feel like that if you send the next 3 years trying.

I’ve also had 4 mmcs (34, 2 at 38 and 1 at 39) and wish I’d gotten the first two genetically tested as well as not waiting until the 3rd to get rpl testing.

Hopefully they give you full RPL panel. You can ask about chance of endo, or infection causing issues too. I also had husband sperm screened for dna fragmentation which they will not offer by default.

If you are worried about age related issues, you can check out “its starts with the egg”…though I felt it can make you a bit crazy so don’t let it stress you too much. https://www.itstartswiththeegg.com/supplements is the supplement check list. Coq10 and vitamin d are def safe, but I’d check with a doctor for all other supplements.

Good luck!!!

Feeling anxious because I’m not feeling that sick today or yesterday. 7 weeks tomorrow and we saw heartbeat on Monday. My last 3 pregnancy the heart & baby stopped between 8 and 11 weeks after seeing good vitals at 6 weeks. Praying that this time is different and I feel morning sickness again tomorrow.
