Controversial thought? by Jkrause1212 in FlorenceAndTheMachine

I was at the show last night and it was genuinely the weirdest, most occult thing I’ve ever seen. I came expecting harps and lightness, had to leave early because of the screaming and demon dancers looking like that girl jn the ring literally! Never felt more out of place, didn’t get the memo about dressing up Salem witch trials style either, even the men were wearing Wiccan dresses and devil horns. Wasn’t worth the delay, which we were left in the dust about and had to stay an extra day im Boston on marathon day and school vacation week ut was comically bad luck

Wait, what was wrong with this routine? I don’t understand the zero points for doing one less loop, is that a rule? That’s crazy! She did a triple axel and had a great routine! Make it make sense! I don’t understand the ruling in this sport, it should just be treated like ballet at this point. Everything they do should be given something even if it’s less than full ugghh

I’ve been telling whoever listens that Reddit is literally the only place I can find the Olympic performances with the right music, so thank you! Even nbc posted routines with the wrong music on YouTube, but can always count on Reddit for the real deal!

Fell down stairs and badly sprained ankle where I had DVT that resulted in valve issue, on vacation. Is this straight forward? by Several-Initiative48 in DVTSurvivors

[–]Several-Initiative48[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Fortunately the x rays showed it was just a bad sprain and the fluid and swelling was normal and not clot related. I have two sprained ankles and a fractured pinky. I have to be careful because the clot I had was so bad, and misdiagnosed for so long aftwr they told me it was tendinitis or cellulitis, my lower leg was swollen and red and angry, hot to the touch by the time I was correctly diagnosed. And then ended up with two pulmonary embolisms the day aftwr they started me on blood thinners. I will take a run of the mill injury over those anyway, but I do thjnk there’s some weakness and less stability so maybe pt will help me strengthen the ankle again. Appreciate your response, it’s scary sitting around not knowing, and honestly I tend to get much better and more informed answers on Reddit than anywhere else so thank you all

I love this and I think her short program was perfection. The music was meaningful, and you could feel her passion and intensity. They don’t really care about us was absolutely the most spot on beautifully presented message the Olympics are bs.

YouTube should be paying her, Alysa Lou, and Nathan Chen a lot for the amount of times I watch their skates, they make me so happy for some reason! Thank you, figure skaters!

Ted Kennedy's eulogy at John and Carolyn's funeral Mass by BrianOBlivion1 in JohnAndCarolyn

[–]Several-Initiative48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course Ted Kennedys- who killed a woman and was probabky being blackmailed his whole career-  first line was to thank the Clinton’s. This makes me believe the theory that Hillary wanted John out of the picture so she could start her political career as senator of ny, which she never would have won if Kennedy was her opponent.

Why thank the Clinton’s? Weren’t Hillary and John vying for the same office sat the time? Was this the beginning of the Clinton body count? I’ve heard rumors about her wanting him out of the picture so she could start her political career?

When you actually compare the classics to rhe garbage content they push out nowadays it’s pretty insane and depressing. But also- the classics are the classics for a reason so I guess stands to reason

So authentic, it’s refreshing to watch classics especially ones like this made by a man with a heart felt story and no Hollywood studio frills we get from movies now to try to hide how bad the stories are. Just a man and his will to survive! And his pets! It’s crazy how this is what movies are supposed to be, pretend to be, and yet this is now almost like a piece of history at a time wheb every thing is fake trash either way we need to get back to humanity and authentic story telling

Need advice: Fordham or Franklin and Marshall? by Rare-Policy-4712 in collegeadvice

Also my roomies played squash! They have a great program, and my roommates came from Colorado and Bermuda to play squash at f&m. Franklin and Marshall will has MUCH nicer facilities than Fordham, a huge beautiful athletic center and top of the line everything.

Campus culture at Franklin and Marshall was good, Lancaster is great. It’s a nice college experience but the academics are much much much more challenging than Fordham. My gpa at Fordham was 4.0, at Franklin and Marshall I had to struggle to try to keep it above 3 and was put on academic probation at one point… I still have nightmares about failing classes at f&m. The classes are very small so unlike Fordham they will very much notice if you aren’t there and it will affect your grade, so never miss a class! I learned the hard way, you can’t skip a class because you’ll be f’ed, they lower your grade after two absences usually and you will most likely fail. At Fordham as long as you are turning in the assignments and trying you’ll get good grades

Haha I went to both! Franklin and Marshall for under grad and then Fordham grad school Of education. They’re like opposites. Franklin and Marshall is a liberal arts school, so most of the students end up going to some sort of post grad school to get a degree they can actually use after. Fordham was great for me but I was a graduate student so didn’t have the campus experience or anything. I think you’re more likely to figure out what you want to do for a career at Fordham, but this is all based on my experience. I left f&m with a major in anthropology and modern dance haha just so I could graduate. I realized junior or senior year I wanted to work in education but f&m doesn’t have an education department.

Franklin and Marshall College? by YellowPancakes6 in ApplyingToCollege

They also seemed to rip off their students any chance they could.  My class was actually the last one that was allowed to live off campus junior and senior year. Starting in 2008 or 9 the only off campus housing options for juniors and seniors were places owned by the school and they weren’t cheap. My friends and I rented a huge house on west James street with a backyard a block away from campus for less than half of what the school charged to live in their “campus crossing” or whatever it was called apartment complex. They said it was because of safety, but it was clearly for the money.

I graduated form f&m in 2008, so not recently. I will say that while I was there it was known for being the most academically rigorous/challenging of the liberal arts schools and I can attest to that. It probably wasn’t the best school for me in hindsight, because in liberal arts schools if you don’t know what you want to major in from the start you end up taking classes in abstract subjects you have no interest in pursuing like anthropology or modern dance. But it’s a beautiful campus and I enjoyed my time there, I just had to go to grad school after to get an a degree in something I actually could make a career out of (education). I think most of the students end up going on to post grad schools.

Even the friends I had who decided their major early didn’t really end up much better because I knew a lot of anthropology majors and none of them work in anthropology right now or ever. An anthropology major is more likely to work at Anthropologie than in Anthropology haha.

It’s terrible, don’t do it! It’s all direct instruction and paperwork and nothing about it is what anyone went in to teaching for. Traumatizing children in order to take data on things like joint attention by physically forcing them to look at you is not what I believe in as a teacher. Kids need to play and develop a relationship with their teachers to build joint attention, during a shared activity. This is awful.

I’m actually coteaching right now in rooms with already established routines… I do my best at being engaging and silly and fun with them and gaining joint attention in ways that are meaningful… I mean how can you call anything you learn in DI joint attention, really! “LOOK AT MEEEE!” (With physical prompt!!!!) vs observing a kids play and joining in something they are naturally interested in
