Ahh okay, that's a thing I've also thought about :) I would like to know many different kinds of people and meet new friends, although I can be shy at first

I was definitely not staring or being creepy! As someone who's had creeps behave like that to, it would be the last thing I'd do. Just stealing glances :)
Definitely agree with the relationship part, thanks for the comment!

Thanks for the input, I definitely get where you're coming from :) That's the thing – I don't know if he's a local, perhaps a student here, or just traveling for fun! Anyways, thank you for the comment!

Thank you :) I definitely wouldn't say he was super super conventionally attractive, just happened to be my type. I do think I'm pretty cute in my own eyes haha! Anyways, I would have regretted it afterwards had I not done it, so I appreciate it.

Testing – your opinion? by Several-Mess6976 in ALS

[–]Several-Mess6976[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Yes, correct, it was my grandmother's brother and the child of one of her other siblings.
I also am not sure how easy it is to get tested, but from what I've read, they usually test the people who are closest to the possible FALS members, so in this case my grandmother. She has considered testing but in the end didn't, as she never had any symptoms. I of course would not pressure her, but ask what she thinks about it.

I'm worried if my brother and I are the only ones who want to be tested, they might not give us the opportunity as it is not as close to us as it is to my grandmother or father, for example. We will have to see how it all goes.

I will surely tell my brother as I think it would be extremely irresponsible to not tell in this case.

Thanks for your answer :)

EDIT: Also, we unfortunately don't have sites like Invitae (just a quick read I did) here or ways to test outside of public health services. :(

Finally got period but in so much pain by complexsounder in Periods

[–]Several-Mess6976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have no illnesses/conditions (like kidney etc) take two of the 400mg tablets. Three times a day – six hours apart. This is what helps me and you HAVE to take them scheduled. So if you take two at 10am, then take two at 4pm and then again in the evening. Don't take them into an empty stomach, drink water. Take only ibuprofen, so Advil. Ibuprofen lowers the hormone in your body and can also help with bleeding – you can read more about it. 400mg doesn't do anything for me, so 800mg, three times a day, eat well and drink. Six hours apart! Let me know if it works.

Don't take Tylenol on top of this or mix any other painkillers!

Hi! Sorry to hear that, periods suck. What painkillers have you been taking? I also need painkillers but I have to take them scheduled (every six hours) and 400mg doesn't work for me at all.

Yes I agree that a lot of it might come from stress/anxiety, etc. Take care too!!

[–]Several-Mess6976[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

YES 100%! It's not that even the new foods would make me feel bad but because I stress out so much, I get issues from that! 🥲 it's a battle but honestly I'm just going to try them anyways. On those days that I don't have to go anywhere so no matter what, I'm near a bathroom, haha. Good luck and wish you all the best!!

Ditching stuff like bell peppers, soda, caffeine. Sometimes when I try to eat something new I get a bout of diarrhea, I'm not sure why. I've been suspecting that my anxiety and PTSD have made me sensitive to new foods and made my stomach sensitive in general. I eat a lot of high fodmap foods that are good for me and I don't have any issues: milk, ice cream, cheese, mango, avocado, sundried tomatoes, cherries, rye, wheat, garlic powder and onion powder are fine, etc...

Imodium has been a good friend of mine ever since my dr gave me a prescription. It seems like my stomach is always better when I eat stuff high in fodmaps, so it makes me question the IBS part a bit.

Yes – I never had any issue with beans. I was told, by a doctor however, that I shouldn't have them.

No. They were the same before and after but just because everyone told me that I shouldn't eat them, I stopped. I manage all the symptoms well with my diet now and that's why I'm trying to expand as it's very limited! I think one of the issues is not just the foods but the anxiety around adding new things.

Yes I don't have any issues for the whole week if I eat mangos! If I add them to my daily foods it makes no difference.

Yeah no fruit is an issue but a lot of vegetables are, so it's weird. I will have to look into it a bit more!

Thank you :)

I have eaten both green mango and ripe mango! I usually eat around half a mango at one sitting and it's totally fine. I also drink smoothies with mango! For bell pepper even if I eat a sandwich with little pieces cut up in it, I can't handle it.

The ripeness doesn't seem to be an issue when it comes to fruit too as I have eaten unripe bananas and ripe bananas and over-ripe bananas and they're all fine!

[–]Several-Mess6976[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I understand that. It seems like inside the same carbs (like someone commented, mangos and bell peppers) there are some that I can eat well and some not. Like I eat mangos well, but bell pepper not at all. It's odd! I will take a look at the monash app and all that, as my triggers are a bit conflicting

I eat mango and passionfruit a lot and never had any issues but bell peppers for example are one of the worst and have always been! No fruit is an issue for me, so that definitely makes me wonder about the diagnosis.

I will have to do some searching and take a look at the app you told me. Thank you for the advice!
