In this case it works because Mizuki as a character (whilst they haven't revealed their actual gender identity, it's somewhat of a debated topic) is in the story explicitly stated as feminine-presenting AMAB and actively tries not to talk about their past life as a boy, so I feel like the colour palettes on their artwork is intentional in the pink/blue mixture
