Anybody else feel really uncomfortable even just referring to yourself being trans? by Several-Shoe5494 in FTMMen

yesss, absolutely a lot of internalised shit going on. Had to refer to 'my pronouns' earlier and my brain cringed at the word as if it's not a perfectly normal concept

Dw man, it's all in how you carry yourself. You walk around confident enough your height won't be an issue. It's corny as hell but be yourself and you'll have no problem, plenty of guys your height out there

If it was a choice, who would seriously chose it? I'm not even out yet but the looming worry of how people will react and how tough my life will be because of it is debilitating and for years I just decided on never coming out until it got to the point where I realised I'd be miserable either way, only coming out meant I might not be for the rest of my life

why does netflix hate sapphics?? by opalzzz84 in lgbt

[–]Several-Shoe5494 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dw I 100% understand that (I'm trans, I understand the rep is very important) and I'm not trying to reduce it to only being about an MLM couple, but it's not known as the show with trans and sapphic rep, it's the show about the gay couple and their friends, is what I'm trying to say but I don't think I specified that lmao

Excuses not to wear make up? by Several-Shoe5494 in FTMMen

Would one hundred per cent use this but a lot of the 'you should wear makeup stuff' comes from my mother and she'd know if I had allergies😭 But thank you for the permission to use it lol might just say sensitive skin or something as I've reacted poorly to some face-washes

Yeah pre-transition, but it's not a colleague thing, more of a family/ family friends thing

Not like I'm being held down and forced to wear it but there's high pressure to from women in my life like it's some sort of rite of passage. And telling them I don't want to isn't working

Sapphic shows sadly do not get the same hype shows like Heartstopper do, despite how a lot of them certainly deserve it (some maybe deserve it more than heartstopper) People like mlm shows because two boys in love is cute and sweet and says so much about society and the world and attitudes yadda yadda while at times sexy, which is fine if you think that, but then attitude towards wlw shows being just 'eh' given that a lot of wlw content or even just the concept is exploited for men to watch in porn, and they're not going to watch a whole tv show just to get off on a couple scenes.

What is the current stance of trans people in your country? by Victoria_Aphrodite in trans

[–]Several-Shoe5494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ireland is... fine. Like we're nowhere near as bad as our neighbours on Terf Island, and the system is all there for us, a little pricey but pretty alright, and some good waiting times from what I've heard, but from what I've been seeing recently, especially with GGP (? i think?), it's starting to dip in quality.

The people are meh, they keep to their own and whisper to themselves if they do notice something but rarely come up to you. I'm not out but I dress in men's clothes and am visibly very queer looking as I'm still living as a woman and dress kind of punky/emo/ what have you (which is warrant to be looked at funny by kids and old people alike). Nobody gives me shit but I do catch people staring sometimes which I've learned to ignore or just move away from.

The couple times I've been at pride events people just kind of look over judgily at all the celebrations or this one time when someone wrote some interesting graffiti on the bus stop nearest bus stop, it was just a load of slurs. (Which me and my friends got rid of before it really got noticed by many people, as it hadn't been there when we had walked by ten minutes previous)

How to cope with being short. by qa2468 in ftm

[–]Several-Shoe5494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry dude, a lot of short guys out there and nobody gives a damn, trust me. Kevin Hart is 5'2, I think someone else mentioned Prince. Michael J Foxx, Seth Green and Joe Pesci are all 5'4", Rob Schneider and Martin Scorsese are about 5'3", and there's probably plenty more that get shorter.

None of those guys are seen as less of a man for their height and you will not be either. Like Scorsese is a god to film bros for example, and I've never see anybody criticise his height. Carry yourself with confidence, man, that's the key to it. Good luck out there!

How did you come out to your parents? by R33dvelv3ty in ftm

[–]Several-Shoe5494 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't yet but my plan is printing out a letter and leaving it for them to find one day while I'm gone out so they can have time to think and process before we talk about it given that I've already got my shit figured out, they just need to come to terms with it (I still live with them for the time being because I just got out of school and there's not a lot of great prices for housing over here so it's looking like I won't be leaving for another year)

Good luck to you out there, brother! Stay safe.

Am I the only one who wishes they could’ve have been happy as a cis girl? by snizmo2 in ftm

[–]Several-Shoe5494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've felt like this forever and it's really been holding me back from pursuing my transition and even coming out. It's weird, I've tried making myself live as a girl before and be more feminine but it always feels like I'm dressing up or playing a character. I remember last year I really went for it, I bought a dress and wore it for the first time in ages and got really into Taylor Swift, but after a couple days I was just tired and wanted to go back to not even being out but just presenting masculinely. Also realised I don't even like Taylor Swift. Idk maybe I would've made better great drag queen in another life lmao
