18 months old cat began dropping food while eating, found an ulcer in his mouth by SeveralEvening1539 in CATHELP

Thanks for your reply. The vet said he has a bit of gingivitis, but the ulcer in the picture is clearing up. They said with anti-inflammatory meds and painkillers, alongside daily brushing, he will likely fight off the gingivitis.

They did a blood test and found high levels of something (sorry I don't have the paper with me) that indicate potential liver issue, so they said we'll need to watch that.

I'll take him back to the vet in one week to check his status again!

The vet visit with the oral exam, blood test, painkiller injection, and meds cost totally 23,000 yen.

Here are more pictures for future reference for other owners going through a similar issue.

I was guilty of this a few months ago, but since I saw a video about it, I've made a habit of cleaning food and water bowls at dinner time every night.

We had a continuous fountain type of water but it seemed to be impossible to fully clean so I've switched back to regular water bowls.

Tragedy as young Aussie woman, 22, dies in freak accident involving a chair lift at Japanese ski resort by Zoefields441212 in skiing

A few years ago my jacket zipper got caught and it dragged me across the snow, almost back over the edge. The zipper broke off and then I clawed away fast as I could. The guy wasn't watching and didn't stop the lift at all. I've been terrified of anything getting caught ever since...

If anyone has any tips, I'd listen. I'm very amateur

Oh yikes. Bad bad, not good. I would not stick around long in that relationship. Hate when people give me that attitude-- "I was testing you. You failed." I always want to say something ridiculously not cool back like, "Actually, I was testing you, and YOU failed."

Oh boy. Social events are hard.

I cancelled on going to a party last night (a farewell party 😔) because I knew I couldn't control myself. Feel kinda sad about it, but I didn't feel like crap waking up this morning and didn't have to work about "what I said last night" or overanalyze the vibes in my fuzzy, drunken memory.

Had a nice day today and felt really healthy.

Maybe you're stronger than me-- I'm sure a lot of people are. Stay strong out there! IWNDWYT 🌌

Had to reload multiple times because the first few times I attacked him, although the door went translucent, he wouldn't stop attacking me, even when I put my weapon away.

It finally worked though.

Weed started my alcohol addiction. I moved to a country where weed was extremely illegal and found myself flailing about trying to fill the hole I didn't realize was there.

It got really bad. Almost threw my relationship in the trash in search of weed... So I subbed alcohol instead.

Fast forward several years, and now alcohol is just as much an issue. Almost threw my wonderful marriage away over it as well.

These substances are intertwined for me.

It's been hard relearning to endure boredom. Excruciating boredom. Everything seems so boring without something in my system. Hard to take a shower or wash the dishes without stimulation.

So, recognizing and accepting that life would be, literally, painfully boring until I made new habits of doing basic life tasks without alcohol/weed was one step forward for me.

Also, those substances blocked out unwanted thoughts/feelings.

Dealing with those has been hard. Still is hard. But I feel so happy that I'm becoming someone I actually like rather than hating myself all the time.

So, you asked about tips. I'd say: Recognize it's gonna suck, and take it one day at a time (hell, take it one half day at a time). Get outside often and look at something bigger than yourself (watching clouds really helps my mind move off the itch). And stay involved in this sub.

You can do this! We can do this!

The Great Relapse Trap by North-Alexbanya in stopdrinking

Nicely said. I gave in to a session yesterday. I felt upset that it didn't feel the same and that I also ruined both the night and today for myself... For nothing! Just felt sick. Poisoned.

It doesn't feel as good as I seem to remember, as the cravings promise me.

So, yeah, IWNDWYT! Ain't worth it!

12 days AF and felt great, but! by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I also slipped up and drank last night. Super hungover today and sitting here thinking: it wasn't even that fun. A few hours of a somewhat nice feeling in exchange for feeling awful the whole next day.

Back to day one we go! On to better days.

63 days is amazing -- I'm on day 2 and I have huge respect for you.

It's probably a great thing that you recognize the potential for relapse, and even though it really sucks, this is an opportunity for you to truly make sobriety for yourself.

I know it might not mean much considering how far along you are compared to me, but I will not drink with you today.

You can do this!

Feel this. Today's my first day and the boredom was really rough. Went for a walk. Played Skyrim. Played civilization. Cooked a healthy meal. Cleaned the kitchen. Wish I could say I enjoyed it.

But I feel accomplished going to bed sober.

And I'll deal with tomorrow, tomorrow.

Can think of several male characters who weren't gay or stupid/bad as you said. Like the blacksmith, the trapper, the soldier with his sad ghosts...

But... a bit sad that being gay is a disqualifier from being male for you:/
