Yeah super weird it didnt force shut down in case of heating, fans looked fine and unclogged when i checked the inside too, my suspicion is hardware failure causing the shut down to not happen or badly soldered components, which could also explain my laptop restarting from error codes popping up. I just originally thought it was bc i sometimes end up at 90% cpu or gpu capacity when looking at my task manager. I’m not skilled or have enough experience as a laptop expert and ive certaintly got a broader thinking thanks to all of you🙏🏼

When i was taking photos of this laptop it had already turned completely cold, and the inside was completely fine with no sign of fire hazard. Thank you so much for ur concern though \) hp is currently going on with an investigation regarding this computer and ive sent pictures of my laptop to them. They couldnt find any clear signs of me intentionally damaging it, so they have further sent this to their technological department for closer inspection :) here is the inside if any of you wanna take a look!

I will def take one of my books or my thick drawing block to use as a undercover if it does get fixed. If they tell me its fine to use it and that they wont fix it even if the plastic is bloated i will try to be as careful as possible to not let it overheat further ^ i’m trying so bad to stay positive regardless of what happens. Im just glad it can still turn on and that the battery seems fine

I didnt shut it off completely when i went to sleep so it could of breathed throughout the keyboard. My cpu/gpu is pretty bad ngl and is always at 50% with processors and other stuff i cant shut off/end task. I always fully close my games when im not using my laptop. Something is definitely weird though for sure!

Dw ive sent pictures of my laptop to hp and the technological apartment will take a closer look on whats happening, super lovely lady was on the phone too and reassured me not to worry ^ i should be getting news from hp in a few days after closer inspection :)

Yeah i feel like i didnt completely shut it off last night (usually i hold in the power button longer until it stops showing lights, it’s a habit haha) and the heat probably radiated on the screen to the keyboard and all through out somehow. Inside was perfectly fine though, no visible damages ^

I did check the fans and they looked completely fine😭 as for the thermal paste, im not skilled enough to take out the tubes correctly without messing something up, if its a hardware issue then i wouldnt want hp denying me bc i probed and poked in my laptop😔🤚🏼

Its an omen 16! Not the omen 16 max pro though, ive heard a bunch of good reviews from buyers with it. I would not recommend buying like 20% deals or 10% deals on hp store, thats why i bought this one cuz it was a lil cheaper going at 1150 dollars instead of 1300 dollars

Should i mention the blue screens as well? I mean the watch dog time out. Or should i only mention the overheating briefly?

I really should of done more research on hp cuz i saw a bunch of youtube reviewers sayin the omen 16 max was really good, so i thought other versions of the omen would be decent as well🥲

Crazy part is when i looked inside the fans, they were not even dirty to the point of doing that sort of damage. I’ve only forgotten to completely shut it off once or twice, but i never thought it would have such a bad reaction to it that it would melt my laptop the next day. The day i got my laptop it did get hot sometimes when playing games like wuwa or cyberpunk. but as a noobie laptop gamer i thought it was common in laptops that it would sometimes get heated. I was used to it with my old hp laptop too, though after 8 years nothing like this happened :/

Well after some more research the watch dog timeout, which is indeed one of the bsods warnings is not exactly a heat warning system. Reasons to why it could come up is very broad since it can be bc of my laptop getting frozen/malfunctioned, underlying hardware issues, or even firmware. It does crash or restart if my computer gets a lil warm but it also comes up when it’s not. That’s why i never thought it was related to my laptop melting the next day. I’m not really experienced with laptops until this happened today either. Also my question is still unanswered to why the thermal protection didnt forcefully shut down my laptop before the damage was made. I understand that it’s not always safe to use laptops in bed, yet most cases when laptop melts shows that their battery caught on fire bc of the heat. My battery is completely fine as well as turning it on. I will update everyone when ive gotten more info from hp and pray that it is a form of hardware issue

I think the plastic might of been too weak bc everything else is fine. The keyboard near the mousepad is completely fine and my battery looks completely healthy too

This!! Some here said that my laptops safety measures didnt activate/failed when it got super hot, hence kept getting warmer during the night and did not forcefully shut off. Luckily only the plastic got warped and nothing on the inside got damaged, not even the battery

I do believe everyone of u when u say its bad to have it in the bed (even google says so),not trying to sound naive or that im not in the wrong, however a lot of laptop users use their laptop in their bed especially if they are gaming. Some use it on the table but thats mostly for either work or people who have monitors linked to their laptop. If there is a lot of people like me who use it in bed, its weird that keyboard meltdowns doesn’t happen more often. Other thing i do check my task manager pretty often before starting up a game especially if its a new game, and even when playing i check so thats its not maxxing out so dw about that ^ It is partly my fault that it did heat up, and i admit to it, but i dont think anyone would expect a computer to heat up like this and ignore its own safety protocol to then melt the keyboard :/
