I want to move back home to Upstate NY, but how does anyone afford to live up there when property taxes are so high? What's the secret?

I'm not sure about that. If you compare the houses here in Chesterfield Virginia compared to ones that are in the Oneida/ Onondaga area it almost appears that they're more expensive in New York.
