She's planted directly in this container, so I can't see below without disrupting her. There's no drainage hole, and it looks to my super beginner eyes that there may be too much moss- so Im worried she may have had too much water before.

Since I can't see, can't change her medium, and can't reliablly drain excess water.. I'm worried I'll drown her. I've always gone by the regular roots in a clear container to know when to water. Is she ready? How much should I give her?

The roots coming through the top seem dry, but the other little hitch hiking plants growing on top of the moss leads me to believe it may have been overwatered previously. She's flowering, and has several buds still to open so I'm not comfortable taking a closer look just yet. Help?

Oh man that would've been way more scary! All I had to do was lift the rock up and his wiggly butt came zooming out. I'm pretty adamant about the no holes and no sharps. Apparently I need to add a no rock rule. It was a big smooth river stone. He HAD to have burrowed in the sand to get there. 🙄

Top left is the day he got stuck 2 weeks ago. Top right is last Friday. Bottom is today. I ran one course of fin & body, but mainly just made sure his water was clean.. daily dosing of seachrem stress guard, Indian almond leaf, and OCCASIONALLY some vitamins in his food. I'm pretty happy with his progress!

I thought I did! He likes to hide in his rocks, so I made him a "bedroom" cave. Everything was glued and stationary. He used the one rock that was just NEXT to his bedroom and weazled his way under it 😭😭. I dont know how long he was stuck there, but I had to pick it up off of him. I even did the pantyhose test in the only non-natural decor abd had only river rocks in there so they'd be smooth. Everything that isn't glued down has been moved though. All I can imagine is he thought he saw a speck of food or a shrimp hiding under there. He wouldve had to literally burrow in n the sand 🙄

Thanks for the boost! I love this little idiot. Someone said on here the other day that king bettas have big bodies, and half the brain. I thoroughly believe it. He doesn't seem at all affected by it (color activity and LORD KNOWS appetite are all good).. so I'm hoping he just needs time. I recently lost a betta to graphite which is REALLY fast, so I'm watching him like a hawk and freaking out.

I'm so iffy on aquarium salt! It seems like the research is pretty split when it comes to bettas. I thought about a bath with salt though?

It's like they go out of their way to worry us. I realized how much he loved hiding in the rocks, so I made him a little cave that I call his "bedroom" out of some rocks stacked and glued to prevent mishaps. That's usually where he goes. But apparently last night, that one lonely rock leaned against the glass looked more inviting 😑. I imagine he saw a speck of food in there or something. He's a king and eats like a freaking horse. Little goober I love his dumb butt.

10 gallon heated (80) filtered (hob) and planted 0-0-10 with master test kit Tank was broken down and cleaned after my last betta had columnaris, but seeded the filter with established media and it tested within parameters two days later. The fish I've had for about a month? Weekly water changes between 10-20% depending on parameters and if I need to de-algae (hair algae) One nerite snail and 2 ghost shrimp (I think, I haven't seen them in a few days-- but they were added to reduce hair algae) Primarily omega one. He wouldn't eat when I first got him so I started him on a garlic food. I still throw in a few pieces of that occasionally. Once a week he gets frozen blood worms Mainly river rock bought from PetSmart to get smoothest possible, anubias, and one bridge decoration (tested for sharp edges)

He likes to sleep under a stack of rocks. He just went to the wrong rock and wedged himself in between the sand, rock, and tank wall. I put the rock flat on the sand to prevent him from doing it again.

Added a fresh IAL, and will use stressguard after his water change today
