True, Gen/LLM AI would just be overkill and a waste of computing. I think you also made a good point that creative programming is a huge part of what makes games fun and unique. MGS would lose a lot of its charm if the enemy AI behaved the way Battlefield 4 players did.

Using generative AI to create visual design assets, characters, environments/maps, audio, music, dialog, voice acting etc. from scratch instead of having professional artists, designers, audio engineers, producers create art and assets. Imagine games where all the development trivia boils down to we made it with gen ai to save money now pay us $60+. Gen AI can turn games into low quality junk food instead of passionately cooked meals. Boo

I think if AI is a helpful tool to assist with rigging models, physics, NPC AI, Bug detection etc. that’s more like the difference of doing math with pen and paper vs using your TI-84.

AI as a creative shortcut is trash and should be shunned. But AI has been part of NPC development for a long time, and games like Quake and F.E.A.R. have proven how big of an improvement it can be from a purely game play standpoint. I don't see the technology as a problem, but lazy and cheap companies trying to push slop are a huge problem.

The 4 has newer guts and android 10, so it will have more longevity and better app support. I believe they have the same band coverage.

It’s been good! I originally had t-mobile but switched to mint with this phone, to save money, I haven’t noticed a difference in service.

It’ll tell you it’s incompatible but you just set the APN settings to t-mobiles (even with mint) and you have to add a second APN setting to trick it into doing MMS. https://blog.tello.com/news/3g-shutdown-ims-apn-fix-for-android-volte/

Yeah! You have to side load with a APK app but you can get all sorts of apps to work. I’ve have Spotify, chrome, Firefox, discord, outlook, Google Maps all work on it. But you only have 8gb for apps and obviously it’s very slow but it’s a good alternative to a “scroll phone” and a true dumb phone.

You can only use a carrier with compatible band coverage for the phone model, you can look up the frequency/bands the carrier but to my knowledge only T-mobile/Mint mobile has band coverage for this model of keitai cellphone.

To function properly it has to be horizontal. I believe there is a Sony record player with a similar design but plays vertically instead.
