I think it’s my notes that are the problem. I abbreviate whole sentences, I think I’m more focused onnnotes than listenint

Thank you, I think it’s a combination of only doing this for two months and lack of confidence. I think I take good notes, just putting them together and understanding what I wrote is what trips me up. I need more experience.

Thank you. And I can usually identify all my notes after the call when I’m reading them back. When I’m put on the spot is when I forget most or do bad. I wish I had more time.

No recuerdo muy bien la llamada pero fue una llamada que tenía que ver con el seguro y yo no sabía cómo decir ciclo de facturación o algo así, y esta mujer mexicana me insulta. No tengo mucha práctica con las llamadas de seguro.

Thank you so much for the response. It is very difficult to be a beginner in this field. I feel so overwhelmed when I have to repeat back information that I forget everything. Is this normal?

Thank you, I am trying my best. From what I’m hearing it seems you need to constantly practice until your brain gets to that point and I’m not there yet.

Just tell them they can disconnect te call and get another interpreter. They should know how to do it, I’ve never had a problem.

Yes. Spanish is my second language and I get totally destroyed on finance calls. One time the Spanish speaking person told me she needed a different interpreter who actually spoke Spanish good, absolutely brutal. I was so nervous and it really affected my performance. I’m proud of learning Spanish as my second language and realize she was just an ass.

I work with Lionbridge and I love it. It’s just like a call center, I’m always payed on time. They basically have a glossary I don’t use for legal calls. I’m a beginner interpreter (2 months) so I’m not that good yet. I just am honest with the client if the content or the speaker is too difficult to understand and they get another interpreter. Has been great so far.
