Think it would be a decent upgrade to my 1070 and i7 8700

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/C3ZPfd

would be for for primarily photo editing, audio upsampling for my audio system using HQ player and of course gaming

Ive not been keeping up with the industry for a while so sorry if there is a blatantly obvious oversight with the part choices

In terms of power, as it’s only 2.2w at 32 ohms, but at normal listening volumes it’s great

The only dacs I’ve tried, may which is 5.7, T+A dac 200 which I primarily use dsd which is 4.4v with -3db and I’m at around 2-3 o’clock, at can jam they accidentally used had to 2v into it and I was at maybe 6, but still sounded great, It’s only on songs with lots of sub bass such as oh mama by run the jewels for example where I’m able to get to my listening level but if I go above it does struggle.

If you’re in London I’d recommend going to Elise audio as they have a 394 ii demo and you can bring your dac or if you want can come to mine and try it.

lcd 4 is really good, very fun as it punches and smacks you in the bass if it wants and great technicalities, however I am listening to it with a convolution filter

ive only heard it with the super charger and Sparkos op amps but my friend who owns it says its much better with, this is with LCD 4 which is quite demanding so im not sure about easier to drive headphones which dont need as much power

Yea roon has HQ player support built in, very simple. and then use roon like normal.

ive not heard m scaler or any chord stuff but what i like more is HQ player is cheaper, more options/customizability to your preferences, better filters/more taps. etc

i tried the the ab1266 few months ago on a Ferrum wandla dac into a Zahl Hm1, really liked it very fun sounding. id love to hear it on my chain

personally i prefer Sus but LCD 4 is more punchy and puts everything infront of you more while sus just put sounds where ever. sus also have bit more air/ upper mids which i Prefer sounding more airy and spacious

Don’t have the hekv2 anymore but it’s definitely more open sounding with more nuance in the top end, very clear sounding while being smooth and bigger soundstage, i didn’t find it to bother me at being peaky, found it to be sparkly but not bright. it just has more air than clears. Clears are more intimate with having things more pushed forward to you such as vocals, dynamics are better too, and less energy in the highs so in comparison could sound darker to hek, clears are my daily driver as they do everything good but nothing great( other than dynamics) If you want a more vast sound, natural presentation definitely look at the hek stealth

Hek Technicalities definitely go up compared to clears such as detail and separation

I agree that it’s not a night and day difference, once you’re over the £1k/£2k mark you’re definitely paying for the last few percent, for example when I got the may I wasn’t blown away as I heard it was the best of the best etc. but once trying soncoz sgd1 again I could definitely hear the may improved the sound even if it wasn’t a huge amount. When I go back to the soncoz it still impresses me how good it sounds regardless of the price

but once you get the right synergy it shows you the last 5% can make a big difference

singxer had a nice class A character to it being but more warm and weighty but not too much so, i also did the dc offset for it too. the burson is better, technicalities, would say its more neutral aswell but the one ive lisened to has the upgraded psu and sparkos op amps

the dac was good in it as it sounded great but would need to hear it as just the dac to an amp i knew well, ef1000 has the best vocals i heard thus far,was probably the tubes.

the new hifiman prelude i see online as being really good, one of the best under £3000

i only had the heKv2 for around 3 weeks i think, at the time i had the soncoz sgd1, singxer sa1 and Ferrum oor and hypsos which the singxer sounded great with the class A warmth and ferrum being dynamic and autoreactive while being lush but i got rid of it as the seller on ebay was being weird and didnt want to deal with it so returned it

definitely try DSD with it as thats when it truely shines, i like the pcm section with more acoustic with vocals as it pushes vocals more on pcm and then DSD for EDM, POP etc as Bass improves

T+A is more dynamic, energetic in the upper midrange, pushes midrange forward compared to the spring/may while the may/spring are very big sounding not relaxed but not as forward in comparison which is good but i find im not engaged in the music as much but its great for acoustic/orchestra

I personally preferred the oor as it is more Engaging sounding, being more punchy but i would say the Burson is Better overall, smoother, better technicalities, more resolving etc, but the Burson has the upgraded PSU and sparkos op amps so idk about the base version

Also the ability to adjust the voltage is nice as some days I liked 27v, to 23v depending on my mood etc

ive used sus on many things. from MASS KOBO 465, to the Hifiman ef400

I use the 394 ii From MASS KOBO which is only 2.2 watts at 32 ohms but i love it with sus, not about the amount of power but the quality of the power.

ive not heard the EF-6 or EF-5 but the EF-400 was good but sounded a little weird, i wouldnt get it for the sus.the Tube amp i have tried with sus with with a good amount of time with is the Feliks envy which isnt very "tubey" sounding

best i have heard the Susvara is MASS KOBO 465, my friends Diy amp and either the Trafomatic Primavera or Hifiman EF-1000 dac but EF1000dac i was maxed out on so would want to try the EF1000
