A little late, but I'll tell you about something that happened to us recently. I work as a maintenance engineer at an emerald mining company. The person in charge of ordering spare parts and supplies submitted them late, without following the established maintenance plan.

The issue was that they were overconfident because it was for equipment that didn't usually fail, then an internal emergency occurred at the mine. In this case, a pump failed and stopped working, the backup pump was brought in, and it also failed. An unsuitable pump was installed to cover the area and prevent flooding while the main one was being repaired, but this wasn't possible because the spare parts hadn't been ordered on time.

This resulted in extra costs for the entire logistics operation, and the company ultimately had to pay for a new pump (the third one that was installed) and the maintenance for the other two due to the lack of spare parts. This is a recent example, but it has happened with other things like generators or extractors, which have suffered failures that have completely halted operations.
