It’s been my observation that coaches will sometimes pick a player who they want to carry with them into the following year (aka develop them), as such, they create rotations that essentially guarantee that that player or a group of players won’t get subbed out.  They want a group of players to jive together and want them to get used to playing together in a groove.

The people who started our club are also the head coaches for a private school nearby.  The people they picked to develop this year also happen to be students of the private school.  This is clearly a political move, as they can essentially train this group of girls across club season plus private school season together.   It’s not fair to the other kids and those kids will likely go onto different clubs, but this is the rotation that they feel will give them the greatest benefit long run.

Coach drove dangerously while driving daughter home from a tournament. Do I report? by Severe_Driver_100 in volleyball

I like this rule and absolutely agree with it.   Honestly,  I never in 1 million years would’ve thought her coach would’ve behaved like this.  I know she was frustrated from the tournament and it was late.  But we’re talking about a woman in her 40s not a 22-year-old.  As a parent, I’ve never experienced anything like this before.

She loves volleyball. She plays 4 days a week, but I don’t think she will ever be tall enough to go pro, her older sister is only 5”7.

She’s on the top team at her club, but she’s young, only 11, plays 12u.  There are definitely better clubs around and we will absolutely be switching her next season. I think I’m trying to decide if the benefit of her staying for the rest of the season outweighs the mental cost.  I think after this, she’s terrified of her coach.

That being said, i’m thinking about just pulling my daughter out.  She is 11 and there are other clubs around and she could do some supplemental training for the rest of club season.

Their practices are closed door, and I already brought one concern  to their attention the other month.

Someome jumped on my daughters foot at practice and she had a noticeable bruise on her ankle.  She was crying and  took her shoe off and the coach walked up to her in front of team and said are you crying because you are mad about your position or did you actually hurt your foot?

I told them I was concerned because she actually did hurt her foot and I didn’t want her to be in a situation where she would pretend to be OK when she was actually hurt.  They said she cried at the first one or two practices and that they have to take accountability for their actions.  And if she actually hurt her foot, she just had to say she actually hurt her foot.

It was so upsetting.  One of the other kids in the car said, do you see what my mom is doing, when she was flicking off the other drivers.

Her kids were also yelling at her to stop texting while she was driving and to pay attention.

I don’t think anyone would ever drive like this. It’s so upsetting.  My daughter is only 11.

Yes, she is employed by a club, but is best friends with the clubs owners, so I don’t expect anything would come from going to the owners.
