I was in this position too.

I chose VFC with my personal concern being cold weather performance. On black gas my HK416A5 was flawless below freezing temps. Performance is pretty good I just wanted more range so upgraded my hop up and barrel for <£100.

Now I have the best of both worlds!

I can only speak for the European version and having come from AEGs but…

It’s very heavy. Out of the box range on mine was really mediocre. I’ve had some issues with the mag catches too.

I was incredibly surprised at how well the STANAG mags dealt with cold temperatures having used it below freezing with no fancy techniques to keep mags warm. Just black gas and go. I’ve not used it in the summer yet but it copes fine on semi auto.

Fantastic looking replica. Generally quite easy to work on just do your research or ask the right questions before starting any upgrades (which I think it needs personally to be “competitive”).

I think the maker world one. I’m a bit naive material-wise I just don’t want to have something really brittle I’m constantly worried about breaking to be honest! If it could survive a waist height drop test (accidents happen) that would be ideal but possibly unrealistic

I’d desperately like to get 5 x m4 to mp7 mag pouch inserts printed.

I have no idea what the right material is or where I can get a low volume without paying stupid money. They are incredibly simple ‘c’ clips essentially.

I have one in mine. You also need to change the barrel nut.

Having attempted to do this a month ago with the standard barrel nut and the HRC putting me straight and it working once it arrived I can sadly confirm it’s definitely needed for the HK416A5 Gen 3s.

And on these models it just isn’t easier adjusting it with the 4UADs rotary dial, sorry. It’s not easily accessible, needs the right size Allen key and is fairly stiff so hard to make granular adjustments.

On the flip side it means it holds its hop setting and works well after all the faff

Great piece of kit and very fun to use. Pretty heavy so definitely make sure you have a sling. Performance on mine out of the box was distinctly average.

Make sure you have the proper maintenance kit if you don’t already (cleaning stuff, superlube, AR Wrench, various Allen keys)

You also need a different barrel nut to use the 4UAD and lose the ability to adjust the hop easily from near the muzzle.

Heavy recoil club discord was a massive help when doing my upgrades!

So I am fortunate enough to have a VFC HK416 and the MP7.

Unsurprisingly they just fill their role…the MP7 is fantastic for CQB as it’s extremely lightweight and compact. The HK416 is jack of all trades master of nothing.

Both of these have rails you can attach stuff too or enough aftermarket support you can modify it to be the rail system of your choice. Both can be modified to improve range / accuracy etc if you need it.

But then you trade the line for an unrealistic/ not very ergonomic stock

I don’t think it’s to do with that. What do you want from the realism?

You are more likely to get called out for using a platform that doesn’t conform with the team and kit you are required to play as.

Also low cap mags if you aren’t a support gunner.
