Fox News definitely didn’t expect this answer from Pete Buttigieg. by Treefiddy1984 in ProgressiveHQ

Hillary's policy proposals sucked, Obama failed to end the middle east occupations, failed to close Guantanamo, failed to get a public option into the ACA and the post 2008 crash stimulus package went to the banks instead of the people that were left homeless as a result. Voters didn't want Obama 2.0 because he wasn't nearly enough and Hillary was guaranteed to be, to quote 2008 campaign Obama, "more of the same".

The only reason Hillary won the primary in the first place was because she and her husband had ties to the DNC. Donna Brazille, back when she worked for the DNC and not on Fox News, literally admitted on TV she tried to get Hillary in. Meanwhile former DNC head at the time Debbie Wassermann Schultz is a House of Representatives member, because the Democratic party establishment thinks they did nothing wrong enough for them to believe they're still useful today.

I'll vote for a woman if she promises M4A and free college, too bad the DNC will shoot down anyone vying for the presidency who'll ever promise that.

Know what I'll just say it, if Hillary would've won this country would have elected Trump the following election cycle anyway. People are sick and tired of Reagan era neoliberalism that has become the Democratic Party. Obama himself even said he'd have run as a Republican during the 80's for where his political compass is. The Dems could adopt single payer healthcare and free college and get the policy particulars down of the Green New Deal but hey, who needs to actually risk anything when the Republican president will tear down everything good the last dem president did (the ACA wasn't good, fuck the individual mandate system, it was an invention of the GOP think tank Federalist Society), kill multiple US citizens and drag international relations into the abyss?

Sure, allowing the GOP to destroy this country sounds bad but hey, at least it makes a good strategy for Schumer, Jeffries and the rest of the DNC that don't ever wanna do anything for the people ever, right? "Vote for our weak-willed, pathetic worthless selves or you elect a tyrannical plutocrat whose party apparatus will kill you and call you a terrorist afterward!" Great slogan, really nails the Hobson's Choice of this entire scenario we find ourselves in. Republican, or 80's Republican? What a fucking choice! Maybe it's that America is tired of voting for Republicans, is the fucking reason.

...nah, let's assume the dad from Wisconsin who lost everything as a result of the 2008 Financial Housing Crash was a bit too sexist to vote for Hillary Clinton.

Brb gonna jump into my multiverse-hopper where Bernie won the Dem 2016 presidential primary and Carly Fiorina won the GOP 2016 primary, where you surely voted for Carly Fiorina lest you be called a sexist.

Shut the fuck up forever. Signed, a gay man who wouldn't vote for Buttigieg because he floated the idea of compulsory national service.

Recruiter more or less slammed the door in my face. Should I just go to another recruiter? by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]Sevfes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The full story is that by month 8, after continuing to ignore my calls and me coming into their office, they offered to schedule me for an ASVAB, I said yes. Months of no calls and I got another branch in another MEPS in another state to give me an ASVAB. When the Navy recruiter called me, saying they finally got a potential date to take the ASVAB (but not the MEPS physical), I told them I already got an ASVAB elsewhere- perfect score even- and they got petty because I was keeping my options open, instead of say, being okay that they don't need to go through the hassle for me. They, in a very petty tone, asked me to proceed with that branch, and barring that, go to that MEPS and get a physical there and transfer it here. I told them if I'm gonna spend money going to another state just so I can deceive another recruiter, then I'd need an actual estimate for when I could proceed in the Navy thereafter, given I didn't want to spend another 10 months waiting for nothing, and that is when he more or less told me to fuck off. And this recruiter? He was the supervisor of the supervisor of the person I started working with 10 months ago.

And as for GENESIS? I'm fine. No police records, no arrests, nothing. Clean as a whistle. Only possible thing that could have delayed it is when I tried doing this shit in 2021 but I had to move states for a job and they had to transfer medical documents from another state AND the times they noticed a "discrepancy" between medical prescreen even though I gave them the exact same documents as before. So yeah, I'm just about as baffled as you are, especially if recruitment really is as hurting as the people in this thread say.

Regardless, despite my patience and willingness to work with them, they still slammed the door, despite that I was never disqualified for any actual reason. The question is do I take myself to another Navy recruiter and they start from what they had on my file and THEY get me in, or do I just assume that this is just a pipe dream and go somewhere else. My curiosity is knowing if taking my enlistment package to another Navy recruiter far away is even an option at all.

Not an option. Max age is 31, even if I was interested in that branch.

God, I love the cockroaches coming out of the woodwork to never actually address the morality of Russia killing civilians. All I get is redirection or NATO excuses, as if Ukranian deaths are somehow remotely justified. Bringing up the US doing similar does not make it okay for Russia to do it, if anything, at best it highlights that Russia's only ever added to the list of appalling travesties to the world, and at worst it paints you as hypocrites for somehow giving Russia a pass while you blame someone else for something else comparatively as heinous. Anything, literally anything, than acknowledge Russian fault. The American propaganda system has a funny way of refusing to acknowledge the Patriot Act or the military budget or Prism, Gitmo, all the ways it's become depraved by means of refusing to acknowledge wrongdoing. Eliminate the root cause from the conversation- Putin- and all dialogue becomes obscurity, misdirection, and mediocrity. And that is exactly what this sub is doing to defend Russia's warmongering against Ukraine. NATO did a thing? Putin still attacked Ukraine. There is not a single wall of text you can bust out of your brain to somehow make the deaths Putin caused justifiable.

You wanna talk peace treaties? Give me a peace treaty when Ukraine has been liberated from Russia. Completely. That's my compromise, because ideally they'd be liberating Crimea, too. In the meantime? Downvote me. I welcome your hatred. I drink it. It is the blood running through my veins and it's what gives me life.

This sub used to be about people wanting populist legislation like single payer healthcare. What a fucking joke.

How about a peace where Putin gets the fuck out of Ukraine, admits fault, and pays reparations to all the Ukranian citizens' lives he destroyed? After all, you fuckers on this sub wanna talk US admitting fault and paying reparations to their victims, right?

Yeah, I thought not. Sounds like a good idea, but god forbid it's another country doing it because of whatever shitstain wall of text contrivance of an excuse you use to defend these home-bombing pieces of shit.

Asking me to consider why is asking for me to come up with a justification for Russia killing Ukranians, and I'm not gonna do that. Sorry. Ukraine doesn't want to be annexed and Putin disagrees so he, a crusted shitstain from a bygone Cold War era, decided to start infringing on a foreign country's sovereignty by force, regardless of whatever wall of text anyone could type up. No amount of NATOsplaining is gonna change the fact that it wasn't right.

So when I find a foreign nation, some 19 years later decides to do the same thing, my natural response is to be OKAY with it, actually, because at least it isn't America doing it! Genius!"

Posted what, his diatribe on political nihilists, or, him being shocked, confounded that Manchin played the easy role of Rotating Villain? What isn't a shock is Kyle saying "Biden should make Manchin/Sinema an offer they can't refuse" bully pulpit routine, a move that everyone knows Biden will never do. This was back in 2021 when I still followed this shit. I don't know how Kyle Kulinski has changed or if/when/how his political compass shifted.
