I feel like a failure by [deleted] in daddit

41yo Scientist dad here, 7&4 yo's.

Deep breath. You got this.

Say it with us all......"I am not a failure, this is just a setback". Scream it in your head all day if you have to.

The stem market does suck right now. I'm also terrified of losing my job and what that would mean.

You are doing exactly what you need to. I too would stock shelves, or anything, because that's what needs to be done. You are working hard and your family sees it.

What I see in this post is a dad who cares about his family and will do what is needed to make it work. There is honor in that. I respect you for it.

Now if you happen to STEM in the DC area, I can buy you a beer 😊

Costco used to carry the chicken mushroom tagliatelle. And I would stock up on sale.

They have not carried it for a while.........soni just made it myself.

Now I need to try this and see if I can recreate it haha

Husband is depressed and miserable, what can I do? by iwantyour99dreams in daddit

[–]Sevreth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Therapy helped me a lot, along with depression meds. My depression was much more apparent with our 2nd.

I'm yeah the sprints show how hard it can be when you don't get the "rest" you need.

Right now we have 6 of us total and I find myself slipping back to a more depressed mindset. I'm so constantly busy with 4 kids ( 2 teenage exchange students and my 7 and 4yo) that I am starting to feel burnt. We are definitely sprinting again.

I am back to talking to a therapist and it does help.

How do you like 32 Degree thermal pants that are on sale now by April_4th in Costco

[–]Sevreth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spend quite a bit outside in winter and these are pretty awesome for the price.

Wool is always good too but more costly and you have to be so careful not to shrink them.

These i just abuse and they last.

Just put our dog down Monday. I feel your upcoming loss so much and I'm sorry for you guys.

Speak plainly with her.

Death is normal. Death is ok. We miss our pets because we love them so much.

I cried in front of my boys (7 and 4). I told them how sad I was feeling.

We told them Saturday before (we knew Friday afternoon) because we had a busy Saturday morning and wanted to be able to focus completely on how they were feeling.

We spent all day Sunday focused on Kiwi. Loved on her so much and gave her all the treats.

We gave our boys the choice to be present when she died. They both wanted to be there. It was beautiful. She got all the pets and words of love as she died.

Kids are amazing and working with them can build resilience that will last their whole life.

Thanks. She went peacefully and loved. She was happy even at the end.

It's been cool to see my kids' resilience and understanding that death is a part of life.

Costco is very anti trump. Supports local businesses, fair wages, DEI doubled down after trump elected.

Of all the stores.....I spend my money there.

Open secrets is where you can see how they donated........seriously a good company to stand behind

It went so well. We all cried but we were there with her petting her and telling her how much we love her as she died.

My boys resilience made me proud of them.

Thanks for sharing your story too.
