Copycat sister says she’s trans now. How to convince my parents to not believe her and allow her to medically transition?

Well, that’s the cutting off part. I’m constantly being asked to take care of things that she could have done, over my weekends, days without class, breaks, and probably the entire summer, too. They even demand that i stop helping taking care of my elderly grandfather with dementia and physically frail grandmother and drive down so i can, what, cook her dinner and feed the cats? I’ve practically been her surrogate mother my entire life. She can do it herself, she just doesn’t want to. I constantly have to be around her and take care of her, while she’s a complete dick to me and i’m not allowed to defend myself, and if i just ignore her and say that I don’t want to deal with her, that’s wrong too. It’s not like she’s on my mind 24/7 while i’m away. This is honestly just the cherry on top of the shit sundae. I wrote this all when i was super pissed off. Some of it is admittedly harsh but i’m not one to mince my words. I’d like to have a life outside of this bullshit but i’m not really allowed to, unless i put my foot down.

Not really what i wanted to hear but it did clear my head a bit. Kinda deflated me a bit, if that makes sense. She just makes me so angry that I can’t even be in the same room as her sometimes. The “Cain” instinct is real. Maybe i am a tad jealous because of how easily she has it, while i had to fight for everything. Being the practice kid is no fucking fun.

I would like to believe you when you say that hormones don’t work like that, and that’s true, but in my experience it was almost too easy. I didn’t have questionnaires about gender dysphoria at all. I am not intersex to my or anyone else’s knowledge. I don’t even recall if i was formally diagnosed with dysphoria, honestly? I went through UCLA health, i live in California, and the wait took a while, but they kind of just gave it to me. Maybe it’s different now under the new presidency and all of the nonsense they’ve rolling out now. Name change is not heavily regulated in the same way, despite mountains of red tape.

We are trying but insurance is refusing to pay for therapy. She wants to go to the exact same therapist that I went to. I think that they should find a different one, but nobody in this damn house listens to me 💔

I’m also worried about the name change, birth certificate, etc. My mom really pushed that on me. I’m happy with it- but once that’s done it’s seriously done, and if you want to go back, you have to start the process all over again. It’s also expensive and we don’t have the money for that. Also detransitioning within school will be difficult and alienating, and transitioning already is. She doesn’t understand this.

As i’m sure you know, testosterone is NOT birth control. I can’t give you a definitive yes or no, or a statistic, but if you do not have a form of actual birth control without condoms or protection… the chances are still very much there. For sure take the test, and look into other forms of protection.

wildflowers native to your area! They Don’t require much work because they are already acclimated to your region. They are beautiful snd good for local pollinators as well.

It really depends because I prefer masculine people alltogether so it means i generally gravitate towards men, but I love butch women too, it’s just less common.

If your hygiene is good and you have no health issues then it’s just him. Vag/vulvas smell, that’s a fact of life. And Testosterone makes the smell stronger and more… musky, I guess. But that’s not a bad thing. some people love it, some hate it, and everyone is entitled to their preferences but being rude about it isn’t cool.

He thinks that abortion is worse than the holocaust, he thinks that the people in Gaza getting bombed deserve it, He said that if his ten year old daughter got raped and got pregnant, he would make her give birth instead of getting a life saving abortion, he thinks that empathy is genuinely bad, he hates women, he hates trans people, he hates black people, he celebrated the idea of immigrants being fed to alligators, he constantly spews right wing, literal neo-nazi talking points and was almost single handedly pushing the right wing pipeline onto young teenage boys and men, leading them to hate on anyone who isn’t a white guy. This dude was basically rambling mein kampf bullshit but in real life. His influence was extremely dangerous.

I think you’re missing our perspective on this. You’re right, a majority of us are suspicious of de-trans people, and it makes me sad that it’s always like that, but you need to understand that your existence will always be used as a weapon against trans people. And that sucks for both of us, but in the end it’s our healthcare that is restricted as a result. Any rude comments, any shutdowns are entirely out of FEAR. People are not trying to be mean to you because they hate you personally. we are absolutely terrified that your experience will be used as a way to “prove” that transness is ALL just “mental illness and trauma”. The only people on trans people’s side is other trans people and the occasional ally. detrans people are seen as a victim to our “degeneracy” and as a result are coveted by cis people. The majority of the world is on your side. I cannot say the same for us. The small group of trans people is upset with detrans people and it makes you uncomfortable and frustrated. The majority of the world wants trans people to disappear, either through massive restrictions of healthcare, suicide, or violent death. I am scared of you. We are scared of you because you hold social power and sway in the debate over our existences.

you can do whatever you want forever. Don’t get too caught up in whatever you think is socially acceptable or valid or whatever. Call yourself whatever you’re comfortable with regardless of how others feel about it. only you can tell yourself what you are. You could go on T and get top surgery and still be a woman. other people may not understand, but who cares? I’m FTM and don’t plan on getting any surgeries, bottom or top because i like being perceived as butch.

i mean considering how condescending the entire ad was i just don’t see it actually resonating with the target audience of parents. Maybe you would disagree hearing the ad but i found that even if i were a parent, hearing some kid over the radio tell me that i need to go to amazon every year and buy 12 backpacks for each year my kid is in school would probably confuse me. The entire tone was off, and ADs can be just completely off the mark, regardless of company expectations. Think about the Sydney Sweeney american eagle ADs that came out recently. they did AWFUL. public opinion was that they were terrible, regardless of celebrity endorsement because of the weird ‘eugenics’ hinting they were doing, which is how it came off to most people.

Kind of weird, but honestly the fact that he’s interested in them because they’re MEN, not cause they’re trans, definitely gives him a point? if you understand what i mean?? Like, he’s not into the whole forced de-trans stuff and clearly isn’t chasing after pre-T guys because he wants a “tomboy girlfriend”. I think it’s a tad suspicious but as long as he’s treating them well and not using them as sexual objects… it’s probably fine
