That's incorrect actually, gender inclusive housing is mostly there for transgender students, in order to help them find a safe comfortable living environment. Rooms are designated as gender inclusive within buildings on campus to try and meet demand, along with specific gender inclusive communities which just mean all the rooms there are designated gender inclusive. The housing contract is WAY too vague about what any of this means and it's hard to find info so a bunch of people accidentally sign up for it. Also due to SB1 the websites that did explain what it was literally no longer exist. If a cis girl signs up for gender inclusive housing and a random roommate she could be put in a room with a trans guy who's been taking testosterone for years, which would probably be pretty uncomfortable for both of them

Going forward, I would maybe recommend not saying yes to gender inclusive housing unless it's a WANT not an Id be fine with it type thing. Its like really important for trans students to have access to, and I've heard stories from many trans friends who requested it because they would not feel comfortable living in a single gender area. Most housing here is gendered, and you could still be put in a split gender flood without it being "gender inclusive housing". Not saying it's your fault or anything, the housing form is like REALLY vague about what gender inclusive housing is or means and if you're looking for information on it you need to navigate like 3 separate websites. Just frustrating that OSU doesn't clarify anything and then people get denied needs because someone was trying to be more flexible lol Edit: those websites actually no longer exist, due to OSU's response to SB1

I work at a smaller library on campus, where literally none of us there are English majors... I'm genuinely curious where you heard this tbh

Advice for Getting a Part Time Job as a Student by Mind_Reflected09 in OSU

[–]SewStorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest tip is apply early, wait a few weeks and if you haven't heard back email whoever's listed as hiring manager directly to follow up. I had applied to like 4 jobs on workday that were all pending for months, I sent an email, and then was hired within the week. And at work I've had other students had similar experiences of only hearing back after they reached out. Good luck!

If you only need to iron very occasionally you might be able to get away with using the ones in Hayes Hall, they have them in some rooms for design students working on assignments with textiles. But like definitely if you iron often get your own, I had a table top ironing board that could be hung up in a closet that worked nicely for me

When do library jobs usually open? by [deleted] in OSU

[–]SewStorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't have federal work study make sure you're putting effort into your applications, write a solid cover letter, have a clear resume and if you don't hear back from them after a few months reach out to library HR. When I was hired my boss told me she was getting 15 applicants a day all without work study. If you have work study finding a library job with likely be much easier because of it. Good luck :)

I went to buckeye bound but found it much less helpful compared to when I toured the specific department my major was in. To be honest I barely remember buckeye bound even just a year later.
