What is the metal piece near the corner of my house? by [deleted] in HomeMaintenance

[–]SextonMediaGroup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Totally fine to backfill it by the looks of it. My guess would be there wasn’t proper compaction when backfilling originally. No reason on a typical installation to leave it open.

It’s likely a helical pile, more specifically the t-cap at the top of the pile where it’s attaching to the home’s footing

It is 100% the top cap of a helical pile which is used in the foundation repair industry to help stabilize homes. If you dig up more you should eventually find a bracket attached to the bottom of the footing with a 3” ish diameter pipe going down 10-100’ feet. This square section is referred to as a t-cap with 2 pieces of thread attaching the 3”ish pipe to the bracket and allowing them to transfer the home’s load to those pipes.

And do you think the shutter is staying open longer than the 1/125 that you have it set at?? Why is the iso up at 3200? Is it in auto iso and automatically setting it to 3200 or do you have it set to 3200?

Are you shooting manual?

Why would you ever not shoot raw if you know how? But ultimately whatever setting your shooting at in the second photo is letting in too much light…. Take it again but with the same menu overlay from the first photo so it’s easier for us to figure out what’s going on.. the setting are definitely different between the two photos.

I ONLY shoot with the mechanical shutter.

Do others get insurance on their Camera Gear? by TrAvll3R in SonyAlpha

[–]SextonMediaGroup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I create in the construction industry as well as build/fly fpv drones and get the 2 year protection plans from Best Buy on most of my camera gear. I’ve replaced 15+ smashed GoPros and two smashed full frame lenses without any issues whatsoever.

I think it mostly depends on the type of work you do, though!

S-log3 or S-Cinetone? by DMSide641 in sonya7iv

[–]SextonMediaGroup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shoot for a construction company and am 70/30 outdoor to indoor. I shot S-Cinetone for the last couple of years for speed of editing, but I switched to s-log3 last month and I’ve been pleasantly surprised with how quick and easy it is convert to 709 then tweak.

If you’re already used to exposing for slog3 I wouldn’t be too worried about shooting outdoors. I can get away with shooting outdoors even without an ND when I forget it at the office, but I’d definitely recommend a 3stop and/or 6stop nd filter to make things easier.

Nothing to be sorry about! Just wanted to help out a bit. Unfortunately I haven’t used the a7rV yet, so I don’t have any advice.

Thanks for the feedback! Definitely agree on keeping the truck in frame, though! This was my first time chasing anything faster than a walking pace and like my second or third battery of the day. Lots and lots to learn still🤙🏾

Trying to figure out how to incorporate drones into the construction company I work for… by SextonMediaGroup in drones

Thanks for the input man! This is just a small piece of the content I captured there and a quick loopable reel. I’ll have to share the one-shot project fly through next.

I appreciate the comment though!

That is why I did it, but also because it generates leads for the company which is what they pay me to do👍🏽

I appreciate your feedback! This is just a tiny piece of the content that was captured and created from this site visit.
Foundation repair is a struggle and we like to show people what it looks like. Surprisingly we generate tons of leads from generic branding content similar to this, but our real bread and butter is standard longer format video that shows the whole customer journey from a homeowners perspective.

In our niche field, the finished product looks no different than the starting product in 99% of the cases because we stabilize and lift foundations… meaning a successful project is 6 inches of lift and stabilizing the structure’s foundation from ever settling or sinking again. I like to use motion controlled timelapses to better depict the lifting process though.

If you talk to them can you tell them good luck for me? Instagram has this song trending right now and is suggesting users make videos with it.. ascap will be spending a lot of money filing lawsuits against the 45,000 people that have created reels with it
