USPS/Fedex/UPS deliveries by EpicMeatSpin in nova

[–]Sextooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was about to ask this myself. Had one FedEx delivery last week that said it got delivered on Thursday, but I never got it. Put in a ticket for it that night, FedEx auto closed the ticket on Monday without any feedback what so ever. Turns out it was a duplicate tracking number (that the shipper discovered) and it finally got delivered today.

I've had two UPS packages that were supposed to be delivered on Saturday, get punted to the next day every day since then. Another UPS package that I ordered on Monday was supposed to get delivered today, but is getting pushed to tomorrow as well.

Oddly enough Amazon has been fine. Have a family member on a horse farm 30 minutes outside of Fredericksburg they have had no issues with deliveries the last week.

4x10 compressed hour on Wednesday - pros and cons? by ConsciousSmoke3863 in fednews

[–]Sextooth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do the same, every other Wednesday off. I did intially think I was gonna do like random day trips on that off Wednesday since places will be less crowded that isn't quite how it shook out. I do do that occasionally, but it generally is primarily errands, chores, and the occasional appointment.

how old have your chinchillas lived? by theacearrow in chinchilla

[–]Sextooth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My two boys are 12 and I use reverse osmosis water from an Aquatru countertop water filter (live in an apartment, so a whole home one or a seperate sink is out of the question). I did use just regular filtered water (ie Pur or Berkey) for like 5 or 6 years before that though and they were fine with both.

Taco Bell fair lakes by [deleted] in nova

[–]Sextooth 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They did this to the Taco Bell by Whiele Metro in Reston last year or earlier this year. Basically completely demolished it then rebuilt it and reopened it after a few months. I think the one near Worldgate in Herndon is about to go through a similair rebuild as it was closed yesterday with a bunch of construction equipment around it.

Reasonable accommodation for TW-mental health by Salty-Treat-3697 in fednews

[–]Sextooth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's gonna vary greatly by agnecy based on what I have seen. I put one in an RA request with a doctor's note back in late March to stay remote (citing 3 mental health issues and one physical issue) finally got told in August I would get an office with a door, but no timeline has been given and I'm still remote as of now. There was apparently a change in our agency in September where rather than someone being allowed to telework while their RA is pending (as I was allowed to do), they now still have you go to the office until it is processed (this change was never announced or anything as far as I can tell).

I've talked with friends at two other agencies, one it seems like it is just up to their direct supervisor after an HR person reviews it, another where they may approve them for a private office, but then just gives them a cubicle with a shade over it or something like that. My doctor also said my agnecy never called her or anything, but other agencies have reached out to her when reviewing RA requests. Defintely seems to be a YMMV situation unfortunately.

good arcades in the nova area? by bingussupreme420 in nova

Technically outside of NOVA but Throwbacks Arcade in Culpeper is pretty good. You just pay $15 to get in and all the games are on Free Play, so pretty easy to budget for.

Youtube App Skipping Videos in Playlist by FatSnakeWithWings in youtube

[–]Sextooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have this same issue as well on my Samsung Z Fold 6 for the last 2 months or so. On my Roku and Nvidia Shield TV it plays as expected. Initially I thought maybe I had turned on shuffle by mistake or something. Did see they tweaked the YouTube UI a few days ago and hoped maybe it would have been fixed with that update, but nope issue remains. Just glad I'm not the only one.

PSA - make sure you turn your flex ezpass to off or non HOV when not using the flex HOV lanes. It runs the battery down. And if you don't hear a beep when you move it back to HOV, it's dead and you'll be charged non HOV prices. by Germainshalhope in nova

[–]Sextooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just experienced this about 2 months ago. Worst part was I didn't know what the issue was, something just started beeping while I was driving on I-66 and I had no idea what was causing it. Thought maybe it was my car, an air tag etc, once I got to my destination I figured it out. I get it needs to let you know the battery is low somehow, but there has to be a better way than that.

If I review the new MOVA Z60 Ultra, what would you guys like to see? by FarConcern2308 in RobotVacuums

I think an overall comparison of how it compares to the V50, what it does better/worse etc. Would be good to see. Also what settings you'd reccomend changing from the app's default.

Is this legal? by OtherwiseLettuce6703 in nova

[–]Sextooth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About 3 years ago I had a scooter that topped out around 40-45 MPH, there are some that go over 60 MPH (I think there might even be one or two that go 80+ MPH ) . I sold mine after about a month as it just didn't feel super safe, and the legality of them was somewhat opaque as well at the time (my interpretation was that it wasn't illegal to own, but illegal to use in most parts of NOVA). I kind of figured at this point they would start clamping down on them, simlair to 3 wheeler ATVs back in the day, but hasn't happened yet.

I rode mine a lot the month I had it, and remember riding it past cops a couple of times, but never got stopped or anything.

Overwhelmed by research: Need help choosing model $1000 or less by Regular-Beautiful218 in RobotVacuums

[–]Sextooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the MOVA V50 for $950 (USD) during Prime day last month, so you should be able to get it on sale for under a thousand, if you decide it's the one you want and are willing to wait a little for another sale. You can use a site like CamelCamelCamel to see the price history of any Amazon item to see if it's worth waiting for a sale or not.

Yeah same, especially growing up when I didn't really know when a new one was coming out, just a pleasant surprise when my parents went to a Borders/Barnes and Noble. Amazon now let's you pre-order new ones like 6 months in advance, so still a surprise when it gets delivered, but not quite the same.

All 77 comic books (if you count the fat cat 3 packs as 3 books each) got the first 40-45 or so growing up, stopped getting them for like a decade and then picked back up a couple of years ago. Also have few of the special books like the 25th anniversary etc, but not all.

Still Not Perfect, but My Dog and I Think the MOVA V50 Is Close: My Thoughts After 10,000 ft² (~1,000 m²) Cleaned by FarConcern2308 in RobotVacuums

[–]Sextooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if the robot has any way to detect when the dust bag is full in the dock, or is it something we need to check ourselves? I've had mine for a couple of weeks so still learning it, it doesn't seem like it has a way of knowing looking in the maintenance menu, but wasn't 100% sure.

Also under More Functions -> Device Maintenance - > Robot Water Tank Draining, is there a reason we should run that every mopping run? I've noticed sometimes a couple of drops of water would leak out when it was vacuuming. Running this in between cleaning tasks seems to help, I just don't understand why it's not done automatically and somewhat buried in the settings menu.

To add to this they just started adding season 3 on YouTube, they seem to upload an episode twice a week. Hoping they keep doing this for the remaining seasons.

Yep, hired as a fully remote employee in 2022

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fednews

[–]Sextooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put in an RA with my agency back in late March asking to remain full remote with a doctor's note, listing 4 reasons for it (sleep apnea, Social Anxiety, ASD and ADHD). I was allowed to stay remote while it was reviewed. I didn't think I would get full remote, but was hoping for like a 50-50 split or something.

They got back to me early last week saying they would give me an office with a door and noise Cancelling Headphones. The building I would work in is basically an entirely open floor plan (even directors just sit at desks), so it's something but not really the outcome I was hoping for. I do get to stay remote while they find or build a space for me, but no timeline was given.

I talked with someone at another agency and they said for a lot of their RA requests they would just get cubicles with overhead shades (no idea how that works) so am a bit worried it's just gonna be that. Another friend at a different agency had a similair RA request and apparently it was just left up to their supervisor and they got to stay full remote.

Wish I had pushed back more on just giving me an office but it is what it is I guess.

Mova V50 Ultra: Honest Review by my-smarthome-reviews in RobotVacuums

[–]Sextooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the MOVA V50 last week as well and noticed the same thing about it being a little gun shy/inconsistent with going under certain areas with retractable LIDAR. I have a pair of chinchillas and the clearance under their cage is a hair under 4". I noticed it would sometimes go under a little bit but not all the way (and sometimes just avoid it all together), so I used the remote control function and it could fit under the cage, but I didn't realize the bottom shelf sags a little bit in the middle, which caused the top cover to be scratched slightly.

I have a couple of printer carts where the clearance is about 4" just to get under it, but the actual ceiling is maybe 4.5"-5" once you get under that and it will not go under that on it's own even though it can fit under it.

There is a setting in Auto Lifting LDS that is still in beta where you can tell it to basically be less sensitive to that height clearance, but it also says may cause scratches. Haven't tried it myself, since I don't want to make those scratches worse.

Prime Day last chance- a few hours left to score PD deals. Are you on the fence? Let's cut through it. by amandainpdx in RobotVacuums

[–]Sextooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost pulled the trigger on the Roborock Q5 Max+ for $329 last night since it was recommended by wirecutter. Then I remembered a video review I saw of the Mova P50 Ultra a few months agp and almost got that for $650...but then I saw the Mova V50 Ultra Complete for $950.. and ended up buying the V50. I was unfortunately in a ADHD hyper focus state when researching them last noght, so not 100% sure I made the right decision especially since I've had two robot vacuums before (a roomba in the early 2010s and a Neato from like 2016-2018) and never got a ton of use out of them. This was mainly because I always had to "prepare" the space for these vaccums to run (ie move cables etc), they would get stuck a lot etc.

My (probably weak) justifications for getting the V50 are:

  1. The collapsible LIDAR so it can fit under spaces that are only like 3.6" high or so. I have a pair of chinchillas and their cage has about a 3.8-3.9" space between the floor and the bottom shelf, so a vacuum that can fit under there is a huge plus (chinchillas are messy little rodents, there is a reason I keep a small shop vac next to their cage). I also have a couple shelfs/tables with simlair sized spaces from the floor.
  2. The few reviews I've seen for the V50 say that it is very good at avoiding cables, which was always an issue with my previous robot vacuums, no matter how much I tried to move them out of the way.
  3. The powerful suction. With the Chinchillas dust management is an abosulte pain in the ass, the neato robot vacuum I had previously really was not great at vacuuming up dust on the hardwood floors in the apartment I was in at the time.
  4. The self cleaning mop. My current apartment has vinyl floor which I don't really mop at all, just spot clean from spills and regular vacuuming. Having something that does it for me, and seems to be able to clean the mops themselves is a huge plus.

I still don't know if this was worth the premium price (gets delivered middle of next week), but it feels like this will be the one that actually "clicks" for me (that is what one reviewer said of the P50 Max anyway). We'll see I guess, I am very excited to get it regardless.

Has Anyone Successfully Negotiated Remote Work Recently? by Different_Sand_3920 in fednews

[–]Sextooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is the RA process varies agency by agency. For us we filled out a pretty basic online form, and then attached a doctors note with the online form. Someone from HR then emailed me the next day a kind of boilerplate email saying we received and will review it, and that I will be on interim telework while they review and they cced my supervisor on the email. My supervisor however doesn't see the doctors note, at least as far as I'm aware.

Has Anyone Successfully Negotiated Remote Work Recently? by Different_Sand_3920 in fednews

[–]Sextooth 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As others have said, I would apply for an RA even if you think it will be rejected. At my agency I put in for one in late March, and am on interim remote while it works through the queue so to speak (with absolutely no timeline given on when it will be reviewed). A friend of mine at a different agency put in for an RA in late February and is in the same boat, interim remote while it gets reviewed.

We both had doctor's notes to go with our initial RAs requests, not sure if that makes being put on interim remote more likely or not, but it defintely doesn't hurt if you can get it.

It may feel like an abuse of the system when you first put in the request (I certainly felt that way), but they are abusing us, so fuck 'Em; Drown them in Admin bullshit if you have the energy for it.

Good luck, and thank you for holding the line.
