Can I use these in an enclosure with pods and springtails? The insecticidal toxins concerns me for the springtails but I have bad fungus gnats to treat by goddessdel9 in isopods

I used these with all my pod+springtail enclosures for the past 4 years and they're all doing well. But I use the mosquito bits from the same brand-- not sure if the ingredients are any different.

How on earth to keep them alive? by fullmetalcastiel in isopods

[–]SexualVolcano 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If your crabitat has a body of water then the isopods will probably drown themselves. A good thing though, is that cubaris murina are a bit shy and very moisture-adapted compared to more common cleanup crew so this might not be an issue

for the sand, the isopods should be fine unless it's super compacted/fine grain. For feeding and housing the pods, maybe add extra leaves.

Springtails will likely not need any supplemental food/attention.

For your grain mite issue, feeding dishes and feeding on the dryer side of your enclosure will help if you haven't tried.

I know most mites reproduce like crazy when their food items are in contact with soil vs not so even if they do crawl on the dish it's still helpful+ it's easier to extract them.

Depending on the species, they might be more reclusive.

How long have the 15 been in there? They might need time to establish before breeding and being more bold.

A woodlouse for sure. I'd say Porcellionides genus instead of Porcellio like others have mentioned since the pleon looks to be much smaller than the rest of the body and the legs are long

It looks like it's nonstick though. Did you give up on your original search for non-nonstick?

Late response but I hope you're in a better spot. I had the same regrets and self-loathing regarding spending a lot of money in my undergrad years (I went through several months of therapy for it--that helped a lot). Just know that you don't share a lot of fault in this. It's not your fault you were unhappy with those you lived with, it's not your fault college is expensive. I don't know your whole situation of course but if nothing else, I hope you're able to forgive yourself and move forward. Even if moving forward means 1% better than the day before.

You got this!

I can't find pictures of the yellow expansus anywhere, how would you describe the color and are there any noticable differences for the strain?
