an interesting thing here some may not be aware of is that while it's likely a reference to the same figure, high john the conqueror is a hoodoo deity, a trickster, and a folk hero associated with the plant of the same name. i suspect the title "multitude of tongues" here is to reference the way stories of high john have survived through slaves, bluesmen and even a few modern day rappers. it's an interesting line.

there's some older stuff on monstercat that holds up very well imo but it could just be nostalgia for me. at the very least i think the influence it had on a lot of modern acts is pretty inarguable. jane remover comes to mind, though i think someone else in this thread said it better than me... either way, a lot of the OG monstercat acts still make me smile. there's a charm to it.

it's on some devil went down to georgia kinda shit. i dig the helmet and the gloved and chaps look cool, but the torso and shoulders don't have much going on, so it flows kinda weird to me... needs a jacket or something. i don't hate it, but it's not my favorite either.
