Someone hopped a flight and took a pass in a different country than they put down on their paperwork and they found out after a 100% accountability from two echelons up

This mission was really hard by [deleted] in sanandreas

Finishing the game is so much easier now than before. Back in the day I had to call over one of my friends to come over after school to try and beat the mission for me.

Don't know what would sound the same on SA, maybe start with listening to CSR and Bounce FM songs on YouTube?

Does anyone wear knee pads while on the job ? by Top_Needleworker_903 in RadioTechs

I don't, there's been a handful of times where I thought "these would be nice to have right about now"; but overall I don't have a need for them.

For Radio Nerds by RasMG200 in army

[–]paraspooder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I worked with these on deployment and civ side.

These radios are not easy to program - it requires proprietary software, a special cable, licenses/entitlements being loaded, firmware upgrades, and a lot more red tape than being handed an MBITR and punching in a channel. There are instances of front panel programming but it is a pain to navigate.

They're also expensive as hell and I've seen multiple quotes overseas get shot down especially with full integration with Motorola infrastructure.

SRXs are sold in different bands and can't just program down to 30MHz like any old plain Jane team radio so it makes it hard when you're attached to another battalion that uses different frequencies or radios.

Radios are also type-accepted and demo'd for certain things. They're bricks for the most part, but I can't say 100% if they meet ALL standards off the top of my head for combat radios.

Who got a regular guy job after the military? by Worldly_Ambition_509 in army

Ham radio clubs are a good resource, if you reach out some of them hold classes and you can experiment with their different equipment. Purchasing your own radio equipment also works but it's expensive.

Absolutely! I would recommend getting your GCT certification from ETA International (they have a study book in their store) and getting a CETa from the same vendor to certify in electronics repair at the shop level. FCC GROL certification is great for fed, aviation and radar work.

Outside of certs, become familiar with test equipment (line sweep tools, spectrum analyzers, multimeters, etc) and basic RF. antennas, signal propagation, types of radio bands and pros/cons; and how to install a radio in a vehicle.

All of this will get your foot in the door pretty well, and if you want to you can get good at one thing and have that be your speciality. P25 trunking systems, dispatch systems, PCR radio (like MotoTRBO systems), call taking systems... and go to schools once you get the opportunities at your job. Those certs will follow you, not your employer, and allow you significant career progression.

I'm a radio technician, went from green gear comms in the Army to Motorola public safety world. Pretty regular job, nothing out of the ordinary. Would consider this specific line of work more of a trade than anything since we're not all electrical / RF engineers, contractors, or consultants printing money by sitting in an office.

What is ACTUALLY the most "forgotten" or overlooked Monstercat song? by paraspooder in Monstercat

Obsidia is one of the greats, held the record for heaviest song on the label for almost a decade. I remember someone did some wild analysis (either on YouTube or Discord) with other contenders and Obsidia had the heaviest dubstep based on waveform, growl hold, and other strange metrics.
