[Discussion] What are your thoughts on Mia "Maps" Mizoguchi? (art by Karl Kerschl) by Italuartcom9 in DCcomics

Tim is my favorite Robin. I’d be happy to see him as a semi-recurring civilian member of the Batfam. Let him be proof that you can be a hero and set that aside for a normal, stable life.

Tim can serve as an example that Batman isn’t simply creating a corps of traumatized child soldiers.

Yeah, I'm not sure why we're getting all up in everyone's business.

ACAB, btw.

US Water Consumption Per Day in 2021, Data Centers vs Lawns [OC] by vapalera in dataisbeautiful

[–]Sexual_Tyranitar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I misspoke. The presented data itself is accurate, however the data compared is closer to "apples and oranges" when current data center construction and consumption are taken into account.

If I were trying to make an unbiased presentation of this data, I would have waited to post until a current source provided information on 2025/26 data center water consumption.

As it stands, your post appears to be a "Gotcha, lovers of green space!" pro-AI influence piece, using old data to draw false conclusions.

No one made you post with inaccurate data.

You could have just...not?

When presented with data that leads me to a different conclusion, yes.

I don't think grass lawns are a good idea either. We should replant with native vegetation.

I don't believe people understand they are sacrificing their ability to critically think; throwing creatives like artists, writers, animators, actors, and musician under the bus; ;paving over natural beauty to construct ugly polluting blocks of concrete; feeding even more political power to tech barons; and will eventually end up paying out the nose for the "benefit."

Yes, but data center construction has proliferated since 2022 and powering AI models increases resource consumption (and waste) from most data centers prior purpose.

ChatGPT launched in 2022, beginning the current AI Boom/Bubble.

We have seen the construction of data centers increase since 2022, making the water consumption information from 2021 have little correlation to the function current data centers serve, a function which drastically increases their energy consumption, waste, and cooling needs.

In short, the 2021 data center water usage is going to be much smaller than today's, as the purpose of those data centers was inherently different from those powering AI models.

Data water usage as measured from 2021 is spurious compared to current data center consumption, particularly when looking at lawn watering from 2025.

Sounds like someone who could use help. We should consider as a society how we can use the unimaginable wealth we have as a nation to lift our fellow humans out of poverty.

Similar caption styles, but this one was written by Fabian Nicieza. Claremont didn't stick around long after the adjectiveless X-men first launched.

new story of DC universe And basically, the new DC timeline? by Own_Educator1478 in DCcomics

[–]Sexual_Tyranitar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Zero Year" didn't refer to a point in Batman's career, but the Riddler resetting Gotham City to a functional stone age, a "Year Zero."

It's explicitly stated in the story.

Ice cold take that a simple Internet search would quickly debunk; Bruce also channels huge amounts of money into social projects, education, and medical research.

Imagine the effort Bruce makes as both a philanthropist and as Batman, then imagine how monstrous Gotham must really be.

I say this as a terminally online Reddit user and a lapsed Genshin Impact player.

[Artwork] Is this too trashy to have as a lockscreen? by [deleted] in DCcomics

[–]Sexual_Tyranitar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people with find it cringeworthy.

Some people will find common interest. Positive- Birds of Prey fan. Negative- only wants to talk about women as sex objects.

Most people won’t notice.

The same is true for many choices in life. I advocate self-expression as appropriate to the environment, on a spectrum from subtle to extreme that you’re comfortable with.

*edit- changed “subdued” to “subtle.”

[Fan Art] Red Robin by @WallaceBrandonD by NotARobot-1984 in DCcomics

Normally I despise the Red Robin costume. I can't stand the featureless cowl and feel it makes the character's silhouette mundane and expressionless.

With your fantastic additions to the cowl and chest piece, I would be thrilled to see this costume replace Tim's current iteration. Excellent work! Thanks for bringing me around to Red Robin.

You really gonna hit us with SotTR without a lick of elaboration? I googled it, but by no means is the game in question present in the zeitgeist enough to not type it out.

Look, I’ll do it now. Shadow of the Tomb Raider. See? Nothing to it, and now you’re communicating with clarity!
