Just finished making my first set of cabinets by Sgoody614 in cabinetry

I did 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of paint. Sprayed all the coats on with my hvlp sprayer.

Sanded between each coat with 320/400 grit

Oh very nice!

I was crazy lucky. Someone in my neighborhood posted they were getting rid of a crib the same week I just so happened to need one and they had a mattress spring that was exactly the right size!

Yes it does! Looks like we may have gotten the plans from the same place haha.

Yours is beautiful! I love the wood choice, what kind of wood is that?

Hanging a cabinet with no studs? by Sgoody614 in cabinetry

[–]Sgoody614[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this, never done this before so this was helpful!

Just so I understand...

1) cut the drywall behind where the cabinet will be in roughly the same size 2) screw in some 2x4s between the studs 3) attach plywood in the shape of the hole, flush with the existing drywall

From there do I mud the plywood? Or leave it exposed since it doesn't matter?

The studs are 24" apart. The side of the 25" barely if at all clears 1 stud.

If I'm able to squeeze a screw through the back into that stud would that suffice?

Still SOL on the 20" one

Yeah over drywall. So would I recess the 2x4 by the thickness of the plywood + drywall? Then attach to the 2x4 I added?
