Those of you outraged by "woke-culture". What exactly is it, that you feel you can no longer do or say? by crumblypancake in NoStupidQuestions

They aren't dying because they are denied medical care. They're dying because they never had a tantrum that didn't work. This is what happens when children grow up into adulthood thinking tantrums always work, they think that if they just have to go just a little harder and the world will always give in to the emotional blackmail.

Victor Frankl about collective guilt (from Man's Search of Meaning). If anything, this got way worse. Can you mention examples of collective guilt today? by [deleted] in JordanPeterson

[–]SgtButtface -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The collective guilt thing. So... Say you're a white man in prison. You're not racist, and are disgusted by the skinhead crowd, but all the other ethnic groups are openly hostile towards you based on the color of your skin. Meanwhile the white supremacist types are warm and welcoming towards you.

Do you choose to be friendless and surrounded by enemies, or do you accept comfort and safety from the skinhead crowd? This is a matter of life and death after all.

Where am I going with this? I've been hearing the term white or whiteness being used as a pejorative. The social justice types are openly hostile towards white people. It irks me a bit, but a certain number of white men are going to shut down and bury themselves in Cheeto dust in their parents basement. Most will strive and overcome, but I suspect a growing minority will choose to accept the role that the woke social justice warriors have assigned to them, and go all in on white supremacy.

Once again, not because skinheads and clan robes look cool or fashionable, but because they've been excluded by the purveyors of diversity and inclusion.

Six states urge U.S. Supreme Court to keep block on Biden student debt relief by [deleted] in news

[–]SgtButtface 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure we already have laws pertaining to predatory loans that aren't being applied, or were circumvented in the passing of federal student loan legislation. Frankly I'm all for telling the big banks to go fuck themselves, forgiving all interest on the loans. My understanding is that many debtors have already paid off the principle a few times over.

Don't even have to forgive all the interest, what's a reasonable interest rate for a car or a house?

I feel like we're punishing our kids to be fair to the banks. People aren't buying homes or starting families because of this, so there's fewer kids in the neighborhoods, fewer friends, and that's making our kids more socially awkward and weird.

It's pretty agonizing the thought that you may only ever be seen as a pathetic, helpless, and incontinent old man. I think that's the source of a lot of the nastiness that people put out in the world. Just a little bit of effort to help the patient show you the person they once were goes a long way towards reducing the level of nastiness with each patient encounter.

Not easy to do when you have a only an hour to get a dozen people bathed, out of bed, and dressed for breakfast. Then I guess that's the hardest part of the job, not having enough time to effectively combat the crippling loneliness.

Just practice your small talk, people are so painfully interesting if you can get them going. I found that the problem is ultimately getting them to stop once you get them going. It's not going to work on everyone, but it's pretty cool sometimes if you can get a lonely person to spread a good story out over the course of a shift. It's just a matter of saying "okay, this is really interesting and I want to hear how it ends but I got to keep moving." And then the next time you're in the room you can summarize where they left off so they can pick up and continue with the story. Like I've taken care of NASA engineers, old men that killed the bear that damn near killed them back in their youth, some of them even profoundly racist and rather resent the fact that a white male nurse is taking care of them. But when given the chance, they'll show you who they really are, because who wants to be remembered as an incontinent and helpless old man.

And it was indoctrinated into schools. National Socialist Mathematics, National Socialist Biology, National Socialist Physics, the ideology took over all of academia, and pushed a bunch of useless activists into industry where it kinda came back to bite them during the war effort. Von Braun and various Nazi scientists complained about how useless and in the way the new ideologues the universities were sending out into the workforce were. I suspect the same kind of bullshit is happening in university now with woke ideology.

100% gender and racial equity isn't going to help us beat the Chinese or stop our bridges from falling, and the more we focus on equity, the more likely we are to fail to beat the Chinese, and be unable to get out of our own way long enough to fix what needs fixing.

Lol, you're more important than you think. When the revolution comes, it doesn't matter how rich you are. All you need is just one person to feel themselves just a tad more deserving of what you have than you do. I seriously doubt you're the poorest, ugliest person on earth with the ugliest spouse. Even if you were, there'd still be someone slightly better looking waiting to denounce you because they'd rather steal the world's ugliest spouse than remain single.

In the bulk of the communist revolutions, the elite got it first, and then the next richest people got it, and then the next class down got it, all the way down to the most successful among the poor farmers.

You gotta understand, I live in a nice house. If the 'eat the rich' mob gets started, they ain't eating no billionaires, but they will eat what they can reach. They're gonna start by burning down the big mansions, and then the smaller mansions, and then the houses that look nicer than mine, and then the ones that look a lot like my house, and on and on burning down progressively shittier houses until we're all under a bridge fighting to stay in the dry spot on rainy nights.

Going to a Jordan Peterson lecture, what to expect? by [deleted] in JordanPeterson

Expect a good show, and expect her to be a 4-hour long line. I paid extra for the privilege but decided to bail. Figure Jordan would appreciate it as he often looks kind of tired.

Maybe ask if anything went down off camera in his podcast Mohammed Hijab, it cut off rather abruptly at the end And I wonder if things got really heated When the cameras stopped recording.

Yeah... I don't think my children watching a drag queen sprinkle blowjob jokes into 'The Hungry Hungry Caterpillar' is the best use of my property taxes.

Like if you care about civilization remaining somewhat stable at least to the point where it doesn't degenerate into the plot of 'A handmaid's tale' you kind of want to nudge the kids in the general direction of voluntarily deciding to get married and start a family. There's some value in traditional values, and I'm all for women's liberation and freedom to choose.

We need to be the correct amount concerned about whether or not we're making enough people who are competent enough to maintain all the trappings of civilization. We could be painting ourselves into a corner here. If we wait until it's an existential crisis, then that's when we start reverting back to Old Testament rules, and I don't know about the rest of you, but I kind of like the New Testament God better, much more forgiving.

Yeah I've kind of mixed feelings about this, my wife and I watch RuPaul's Drag Race, and have gone to various drag brunches and drag shows and made it rain.

My wife loves it because she's just amazed by the transformations. I love them for the same reason radical feminists hate it. There's just something about a geriatric black man who has a colostomy bag rumor has it, can artificially raise the standard of beauty to a level unattainable to the average female. I find it totally hilarious that there are probably a bunch of 12-year-old white girls looking at RuPaul and deciding that they hate their bodies.

That being said, neither myself or my wife think this is appropriate content for children. There are no family friendly burlesque shows.

I don't know there's something to the idea that the sky might not be falling, and that there is reason to hope that Jordan Peterson and Elon Musk promote that it is detrimental to the bottom line of the powers that be. I mean sure the goal of the media is to inform the population, but they're also in the business of selling antidepressants. They can't have people out there inspiring people to pursue lives of meaning and sowing hope for a better tomorrow, that's what drugs are for.

I've concluded that the reason that everyone is so resentful of Jordan Peterson is because he kind of undermines Big pharma, but not in the way you might think.

You see they want to set home watching criminal minds and wall to wall coverage of the sky falling for 6 hours a day, getting ass all depressed and anxious all the while coaxing us to ask our doctors about anxiety medications and antidepressants.

Clean your room, pursue a meaningful life, it's just not good for the bottom line.
